Didn’t hit the week I planned. Cut my long run short, missed a session entirely.
Monday morning I’m not chasing lost kilometres. I’m just doing today’s plan.
That’s the actual skill. Not perfect weeks. Getting back to the plan without trying to settle a score with yourself.
Works for training. Works for eating well. Works for basically everything.

Training for an ultra marathon didn’t teach me anything new about willpower. It taught me I’d been overcomplicating fat loss for years.
Consistency over intensity. Fueling over restricting. Recovery as part of the plan, not a reward for finishing it. Trust the process on the days it doesn’t feel like it’s working.
None of that is exciting. All of it is what actually moves the needle, whether you’re chasing a race or just want your energy back.
10 weeks into an ultra build and the biggest lesson isn’t about running.
It’s that forcing things doesn’t work. Not in training, not in fat loss.
The body adapts on its own timeline. Every long run right now feels almost too easy, and that’s exactly the point. It’s building something I won’t see for months.
Fat loss works the same way. The daily stuff that actually moves the needle rarely feels dramatic. That’s not failure. That’s patience doing its job.
If you’ve been trying to force this, comment PATIENCE and I’ll show you what a patience-based system actually looks like.
Quick gut check because I hear this every week.
Here’s what this actually looks like day to day:
Almond butter: 2 tbsp is basically 200 calories, most people are past that.
Olive oil: a generous drizzle on a salad adds 150+ calories without you noticing.
Trail mix: a small handful is small. A car-ride handful is not.
Smoothies: whole foods blended up can hit 500-600 calories in one cup.
None of this means stop eating these foods. It means the food quality box and the amount box are two different questions. You can check the first one every day and still miss the second.
If this is where you’ve been stuck, portion awareness (not restriction) is usually the missing piece.
Fitness doesn’t get a separate lane in your life.
It has to fit into the one you’ve already got: kids, mornings, work, chaos and all.
That’s the whole point of the Energy Reset Method. Train around your life, not instead of it.
If your training plan doesn’t survive real life, it’s the wrong plan

Some runs feel easy. Today itdidn’t.
No music left to distract me the last mile. Legs were flat before I even started stomach was not great... Almost talked myself into pushing it to tomorrow.
Went anyway. Not because I felt like it. Because showing up on the hard days is the whole point. The easy ones don’t teach you anything.
This is what it actually looks like most of the time. Not polished. Not effortless. Just done.
Most mornings used to start with ten small decisions before I even left the driveway. What to eat, whether to work out, what workout, when, how to fit it all in.
None of those decisions were hard on their own. It was just too many of them, too early, before my brain had any fuel to make them well.
The fix wasn’t more discipline. It was fewer choices to make in the first place. Same breakfast most days. Same workout structure each week. Same rough plan I don’t have to rebuild from scratch every morning.
Less thinking, more doing. That’s the whole trick.
Tag a fellow parent who overthinks mornings just as much as you do.
Ran early this morning and still came home drenched.
Ultra training in August means the training log looks different than it did in May. Pace slows down, water and electrolytes come earlier, and the ego stays home.
Funny enough, it is the same lesson I give clients constantly. The people who actually keep results long term are not the ones who go hardest out of the gate. They are the ones who learn to pace themselves and stay consistent when it gets uncomfortable.
Following the build here if you want the honest version, heat, setbacks and all.

By the time you’re thirsty, you’re already behind. Most of the people I coach aren’t dragging because of their workout plan. They’re dragging because they’re running on 3 glasses of water and 2 coffees a day.
These 5 signs show up before thirst does. Swipe through and see which ones you’ve been writing off as “just tired” or “just a headache day.”
Save this so you’ve got it next time you’re wondering why you feel off.
