1st Grade DLI had a bridging lesson today where students come together and BRIDGE topics in both Spanish and English. This lesson had students complete their own bridging chart and have a class discussion about shapes in English and Spanish. Students love being able to use both languages to show what they know.

Bilingual Storytime: We read one story in English and Spanish, work on a craft, review bilingual vocabulary and socialize with community members. Storytellers: Jake Moyes and Carmen Brooks

Multicultural Music and Movement MMM, Los Caravales, a bilingual, multicultural music group of children, youth and adults.

Our goal is to support GLOBAL SKILLS FOR OUR CHILDREN.

Bilingualism and biliteracy. A Safe Space for children and families to speak, write, read, listen, and use English or Spanish outside the classroom.

Sociocultural competence. Understanding of similarities and differences of different cultures as an asset to develop collaboration. Equity and social justice in and out the classroom.

This is a program for all Prek-5th and beyond, no bilingual skills required.

I am reaching out to you today with news of two magnificent events that offer opportunities to explore the magic of multiculturalism and utilize them to enhance the socio-cultural competences of our new generations. Please help us spread the word!

1- Come Build the Altar:
Have you ever had the opportunity to visit or create an Altar de Mu***os? You reside in the ideal community to partake in this culturally immersive experience. Día de Mu***os is a sacred observance that transcends beliefs, education, and borders. It is a day when we pay homage to the loved ones who have passed away. These days are, as our culture proclaims, a portal to receive the souls of our dearly departed. This is not about horror nor magic; it's about celebrating and believing in love even after death. We extend an invitation to you to decorate the 'Altar de Mu***os' at Jasper Community Arts, tomorrow Wednesday 25, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. You are welcome to bring a framed picture of your beloved ones who have passed away and assist us in adorning the Altar, which will be on display on November 2nd during our 'Day of The Dead Celebration.' All families, associations, businesses, schools, and groups from Dubois County and surrounding counties are encouraged to participate, you can also frame a poem, story, drawing, picture of your pets or anything related to day of the dead, and include your logo. Join Us!

This vibrant and colorful celebration, observed on November 1st and 2nd each year, represents a unique fusion of indigenous customs, colonial influences, and contemporary culture. These elements converge to create an emotional, soul-liberating, heart-cleansing, and grief-resilient celebration of life and death, honoring the achievements of our departed loved ones who are no longer with us.

¿Alguna vez has tenido la oportunidad de visitar o crear un Altar de Mu***os? Resides en la comunidad ideal para participar en esta experiencia culturalmente inmersiva. El Día de Mu***os es una celebración sagrada que trasciende creencias, educación y fronteras. Es un día en el que rendimos homenaje a nuestros seres queridos que han fallecido. Estos días son, como proclama nuestra cultura, un portal para recibir las almas de nuestros queridos difuntos. No se trata de horror ni magia; se trata de celebrar y creer en el amor incluso después de la muerte. Te extendemos una invitación para decorar el 'Altar de Mu***os' en Jasper Community Arts, mañana miércoles 25, de 6:00 PM a 8:00 PM. Puedes traer una foto enmarcada de tus seres queridos que han fallecido y ayudarnos a adornar el Altar, que estará en exhibición el 2 de noviembre durante nuestra 'Celebración del Día de los Mu***os'.
