Karol G just became the FIRST Latina to headline Coachella 2026 and turned it into something way bigger than just a performance. Karol G, whose real name is Carolina Giraldo Navarro, is from Medellín, Colombia, and she’s been grinding for years to get here. Before the sold-out tours and global hits, she was told “no” a lot, especially as a woman trying to break into reggaetón, a space that hasn’t always been open to Latinas. Instead of changing who she was, she leaned into it, her accent, her language, her story.
Her set was filled with cultural pride throughout, including classic tributes, an all-female mariachi band, surprise guests, and of course, she did not leave the stage without shouting out the Latino community, bringing out the best in “unity, resilience, and strong spirit.”
From dropping chart-topping albums to becoming one of the biggest names in Latin music, Karol G is proof that you can stay true to yourself and still reach the top!
