Anyone who is truly committed to development in society understands that human capital development is central to all other efforts, being a major driver of every other factor.

Each of us must commit to eradicating or reducing to barest minimum the rate of illiteracy in our society. We must help support every initiative that aims to educate, orientate, create awareness or bring information to people. Without this, all other efforts towards a better society will only result in waste of time and resources.

If you can, support someone to have formal education. However little you can do, an effort to improve knowledge is one of the greatest gifts you can offer any human being. An educated fellow is an empowered individual.

Importantly also, we should appreciate those who are committed to reducing illiteracy in our world. Teachers, tutors, lecturers, trainers or whatever the nomenclature we give them; those who are in the business of impacting knowledge perform one of the finest jobs on earth - honour them.
