PSE PTO please share:
We're working tomorrow at the school but not necessarily in the OC. We're going to spend some time working on sprucing up the entryway and around our flagpole. We will be digging some of the lilies and dividing them. If you come pitch in, you can take some :) Hours are 8:30-10:30. Bring a hand shovel and some gloves, please. Some easy NJHS hours compared to the usual w**d pulling in the OC. Photo Credit: Robin Pilla

Mommy Robin and little fledgling: Proof that all parents want is a safe place with basic needs met to raise their beloved families.
If you're bird feeding this year remember to:
Frequently clean and refill hummingbird feeders, fermented and spoiled solution will kill them.
Frequently clean your bird baths to prevent diseases that have had impacts on the finch community and also helps with mosquitoes.
Make sure your bird feeder is clear of old and potentially moldy food, especially if it has gotten wet during rain or lawn watering.
*Watch the weather today, put down your patio umbrellas before heading to work.
? If you could put a fruit tree in the OC, what sort of tree would it be and why??♥️

We have watermelon blossoms!
Come see for yourselves :)
The OC will be open on Thursday from 9-10. We're clearing out hedge parsley. If there are any budding artists that would like to sketch or paint in the OC, you are welcome to come in, too!
Echinacea purpurea, purple coneflower. Native flower to Missouri and long used in teas to boost immunity and fight colds.

Beautiful photos taken in the OC.
Photo credit to Blake F. You did a great job!
This year, I'd like to move into a more student lead OC page. If you have any kiddos who would like to contribute:
Nature photography
Nature inspired art work
Nature inspired poetry
Science facts
Animals
Nature in general
Opinion pieces on the planet, conservation, plants and so on
Recipes
We'd love to share them.
Send us a message with your submission and how you want the credit for the work given. Remember this is a public page (and we can't change that) so think about how you want information to appear.

Let's talk about mint! We.grow lemon balm, peppermint, and chocolate mint in the OC. Seasonally we may have other mint plants, such as basil, marjoram, and oregano, as well.
How to make a simple mint syrup in the comments 🌱

This is where our garden improvement grant came from.
Whole Foods Market Foundation helped us transform the Outdoor Classroom at Progress South Elementary pathway into an accessible path for all students and staff.
As we continue to improve our classroom, we're also looking to improve our community service. I've begun reaching out to local organizations about informational workshops we can host at the garden and will keep you all posted as things develop!

Thank you for your support and the belief that growing healthy food is for *every body* 💖🌱🌏
