WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE AN ACHALAUGO?

Someone told me that he is having a running battle with his wife because she wants him to start calling her "Achalaugo". I told him it should be a simple thing to do and shouldn't warrant any arguments, but he said he couldn't bring himself to such fallacy, because his wife has proven over the years of their marriage not to be deserving of such accolades. He prefers to call her "Baby" "Honey" or any of such meaningless pet names.

"Achalaugo is not just a pet name, but a title rooted in our culture and having very deep meanings. It is the simplest translation of "Virtuous Woman" of Proverbs 31." He explained.

I was ready to learn more. And he was ready to teach me more.

"Achalaugo is not about the beauty of the face or some curvaceous hips and standing apples on the chest. It is about character, industry, natural femininity; the true African woman. Achalaugo describes the beauty that runs deeper than skin tones and pretty noses."

I must say that I learnt a lot about the things I already know about what makes the ideal feminist. A woman; strong, diligent, caring, homely, industrious, yet strong and ready to stand up for her man and her home, at any time.

This and more are the things you are going to learn in the film; "The Real Achalaugo", which is exclusively released on FCC TV Naija YouTube channel. It teaches you not just to want to answer Achalaugo, but to be an Achalaugo.

Get all your young daughters to watch this film, it will definitely inspire them into better women, that would earn the respect and absolute loyalty of their man.

The Alumni leadership in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, quoted the President of the Association, Chief Okey Ozumba as saying; "Dr. Linus Okorie has remained one of the shining lights of our great Alma mater, right from his days as an undergraduate when, as an affirmation of his incipient but obvious leadership credentials, he was elected by following students as the first President of the Students Union Government, and as an alumnus, has stood out as an iconic Star and a beacon of hope to youths, not just in Nigeria, but across Africa."

The National Publicity Secretary of the Association in conveying the good wishes of the Association described Dr. Okorie as "a significant model of the excellence that Imo State University is known for".

IMSU ALUMNI, ABUJA CHAPTER ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE

In line with the directives of the incorporated Board of Trustees, the Abuja chapter, otherwise known as Pacesetters of the Imo State University Alumni Association have elected a new executive committee to pilot the affairs of the Association for another two years. This is following the expiration of the Mr. Charles Nwosu eventful and purpose-filled leadership in the last two years.

A financial expert and committed alumnus, Mr. Benedict Alaribe was returned as the Chairman of the Chapter while Mr. Obinna Leslie Mbakwem returned as the Secretary, in what promises to be another power-packed and purpose driven executive.

All chartered or Board recognised chapters of the Association are expected to conclude their chapter elections on or before the 31st of October, while the national executive committee election is scheduled to hold in Port-Harcourt sometime in November.

The President of the Imo State University Alumni Association, Barrister Okey Ozumba has sent his heartfelt congratulations to the new executive and urged them to keep the light shining and continue to make the right sacrifices towards building the Alumni of our dreams.

IMSU ALUMNI SET TO RESCUE A DISTRESSED STAR

The Imo State University Alumni Association led by Barrister Okey Ozumba has commenced processes towards total rehabilitation of an alumnus of the university, Iyk Onuka, who is said to be struggling with drug addiction.

According to Mr. Ik Ogbonna who brought the attention of the leadership and members of the Alumni Association to the plight of the 2004 graduate of Public Administration of our noble alma mater, he accompanied the President of the Association to pay Mr. Iyk an unscheduled visit in order to determine his state of health as well as readiness to present himself for psychiatric attention, this was after the Association had through freewill donations from members realized some modest amount of money and concluded arrangements to take him to the Neuropsychiatric Hospital.

However, the young man refused all entreaties to make himself available for the rehabilitation program. He rather argued that he is alright and taking him to a hospital would amount to a "ridicule" of his person. He instead demanded that the alumni provides him a good accomodation and a job.

The President of the Association, Barrister Okey Ozumba however assured not to let up in the Association's desire to ensure that our dear brother gets all the care we can afford and that the Association shall do it's best to reintegrate him into the society for the benefit of the society.

According to the President; "Our focus in the Imo State University Alumni Association is to provide humanitarian service to our members and even non members who genuinely deserve our assistance. The case of Iyk Onuka will not be an exception, as we will do our best to rescue him."

He informed that in the close to two years of his administration, over 20 million Naira have been doled out to members as support for various health and family challenges, including burial of relatives and education endowment funds for children of deceased members. He assured that the Alumni shall continue to do its best to guarantee the welfare of members and the alumni in general, as well as support the university in improving its infrastructure and other needs that might arise.

LAGOS POLICE ADVISES IMSU ALUMNI CRIMINAL IMPOSTORS TO DESIST FROM GOING AHEAD WITH ANY PURPORTED CONVENTION

The Police in Lagos has advised a group, criminally parading itself as the Imo State University Alumni Association, not to go ahead with any purported convention in the name of the Imo State University Alumni Association. This is following the Police's receipt of an order of court to that effect.

In what could best be described as a desperate affront on the authority of the Court, this group of impostors led by a certain Ferdinand Ezeala Akano had gone ahead to mobilise some fun seeking individuals to Lagos in the guise of holding an IMSUAA convention, even though a High Court in Owerri had given an interlocutory injunction against them proceeding with any such activity. On getting wind of this, members of the incorporated Board of the Association led by Barrister Chinwe Mbakwem together with the President of the Association, Barrister Okey Ozumba, as law-abiding citizens and responsible persons called the attention of the necessary authorities to the attempt by some lawless individuals to go ahead with an action against court order.

Acting on this report, the Police invited the suspected lawbreakers and asked them to provide reasons why they would go ahead with the purported convention while there is a subsisting order against them, the group could not provide any reasonable explanation to that effect, hence, the Police requested that they write an undertaking assuring that they will not go ahead with the event under any guise, which they consented to.

However, investigations by some eagle eyed reporters reveal that the group having collected huge sums of money from some gullible and validation seeking politicians are planning to sneak out to a new venue for their jamboree, partly, in order to retire the monies they have collected.

While some honorable invitees to the jamboree have already pulled out on confirming that there is a court order against the event, our findings show that a certain lascivious shark who is a Professor and a Dean of one of the schools in Imo State University who sees gatherings like this one as an avenue for his lustful escapades is one of those prodding them on to break the law, "as nothing will happen".

The President of the Imo State University Alumni Association, Chief Barrister Okey Ozumba has however urged for caution among all Stars, describing the situation as unfortunate and avoidable misunderstanding between brothers. Speaking to our correspondent, the senior legal practitioner and businessman said;

"The Imo State University Alumni is one big happy family, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone of us under the incorporated and only legitimate Association, because, together we can win."

He regretted that some individuals are dragging the name of the prestigious university to the muds due to their personal interests and ego, and urged them to swallow their pride and return home.
