A little update from us 💛

Sadly, as most of you will be aware, Joy Connection will be closing after the summer, which means we’ll be saying goodbye to our current space in Bury St Edmunds.

As a result, we’re now on the lookout for a new venue to host our sling library sessions going forward. We’d love to keep supporting local families with babywearing, so finding the right space is really important to us.

If you know of any Bury-based venues that might be interested — community spaces, halls, studios, or anywhere family-friendly — please drop us a message or tag them below so we can start reaching out.

Thank you so much for your support, and we’ll keep you posted as things develop 💫

Supporting parents on their babywearing journey isn’t just a hobby, it’s my passion 💛

There is something so special about helping a parent find the sling or carrier that truly fits their body, their baby, and their lifestyle. Watching confidence grow, shoulders relax, and that little one snuggle in close… it never gets old.

Babywearing can feel overwhelming at first — all the styles, brands, adjustments — but when it clicks? It’s freedom. It’s connection. It’s calm.

And when a parent takes the time to share kind words about their experience… that’s just the cherry on top 🍒 It means the world to know the support made a difference.

Thank you for trusting me to be part of your journey. Supporting you and your little ones is an absolute privilege 💛

Thinking about world facing?

So often we hear ‘My baby is nosey’ or ‘They don’t enjoy facing me’

As a parent of four and super experienced babywearer, I never wore mine world facing. As a babywearing educator I want parents to have what they need to make an informed decision about thier choices.

👇🏽Here’s what you need to know👇🏽

👏 First and foremost, IT’S NEVER OK TO SLEEP IN WORLD FACING POSITION👏

There’s a huge risk of positional asphyxiation, compromised airways. Rant over.

🔹 Timing Matters: Most babies aren’t developmentally ready to face out until around 6 months, with decent core control and really good head and neck control- this usually comes around the same time as tripod sitting.

🔹Carrier limits: Lots of brands are only safety/weight tested to around an average 12 month old- this means that the window for world facing can be quite limited.

🔹 Overstimulation Is Real: Facing out means baby takes in everything, without the option to turn away and snuggle into their caregiver for comfort. It can be overwhelming and exhausting for little ones, we only recommend it for 20-30 minutes at a time.

🔹 Less Support: Many carriers don’t support optimal hip and spine positioning when baby is turned out. This can lead to discomfort for both baby and the wearer.

🔹 Cues: Babywearing isn’t just transport—it’s a tool. Facing in allows your little one to see your face, hear your voice clearly, and allows you to be in tune with their needs—all key to emotional development 💗

➡️ For many families, a back or hip carry is a great alternative once baby is ready to explore more of the world without losing the safety and comfort of connection.
