The passage of RA 11713, s. 2022 or the Excellence in Teacher Education Act has elevated the role and mandate of the Teacher Education Council in advancing teacher quality and teacher education in the Philippines. The law also upgraded the leadership positions in the Council's secretariat led by an Executive Director V—a position equivalent in rank to that of a Department Undersecretary.
The entire RITQ family is immensely proud to see our very own Director, Dr. Jennie Jocson, appointed as the first Executive Director V of the TEC. She was appointed this week by the 11-member Council chaired by the DepEd Secretary, following a rigorous selection process that began in 2023.
Congratulations on your new role, Dr. Jennie. While we will miss your guidance and presence here at RITQ, we are deeply grateful for the countless contributions you’ve made to the Institute and to the betterment of education across the country. We look forward to witnessing the incredible impact you will undoubtedly make at TEC.
