A huge well done to our Mayfield children who represented Oldham Rugby this weekend! 🏉❤️
As well as celebrating Oldham’s win, each child had the exciting opportunity to lead a player out onto the pitch as mascots.
A big thank you to Mr Holmes, our Sports Leader, for organising this fantastic opportunity.

This week in Nursery, we read I Love My Planet in Think Equal and explored what makes our planet happy and sad 🌍 Inspired by the story, we created art using natural colours from red cabbage water, beetroot, crushed leaves and flowers. The children used gross motor skills with our hammers to crush the plants and release the colours hidden inside. We also used leftover fruit for printing to create caterpillar and butterfly pictures while learning about reducing waste and caring for our environment 🍃🎨🦋

Take a look at these incredible clay totem poles created by our Year 5 artists! 🎨 As the grand finale to their North American art topic, they’ve sculpted, textured, and painted these stunning pieces - each telling its own unique story. We are so proud of their creativity and hard work! 🦅🐻✨

Year 5 loved their science experiment this afternoon! The children worked together brilliantly in their teams and explored how vitamin C tablets dropped in water undergo a chemical reaction that causes fizzing and the release of carbon dioxide bubbles! 👩🏻🔬🧪⚛️

Our phonics after school club was full of fun! ⚽📚👽
The children loved taking part in phonics football, speedy phonics races and reading alien words.
A big gust of wind even created a “phonics tornado” and sent our alien words swirling all around the playground! 🌪️
The children had so much fun chasing, reading and collecting the alien words. A brilliant way to practise decoding through play!

In Nursery, our art topic this week started with a recap of all the art materials we have used so far this half term. We used our display to help us remember the different media and how we use them in our art. This week we are using digital art to decorate an ice cream. We learn how to select the colour or texture we want and how to change the size of the line we are using. We look at how to create effects such as chocolate chips and sprinkles using dots and dashes, and strawberry sauce using curved lines. 🍦

Miss Howarth is so proud of Year 1 EH for their fantastic diary entries based on Lost and Found! ✏️📚 The children worked hard to use new conjunctions in their writing and showed great creativity and confidence. Well done, Year 1 EH! 🌟

Year 1WO enjoyed a Fraction Tea Party! ☕🍰
We learned that a quarter is one of four equal parts. The children used tortillas and cakes to cut and find quarters. After we ate some of the food, we talked about how many quarters were left and how many made the whole again.
