The College of Business Administration and Accountancy has successfully conducted an impactful Information and Education Campaign (IEC) to distribute materials on Financial Literacy, Conflict Resolution, and Time Management. This initiative was carried out among employees of the LGU-Tinglayan and other Barangays in the Municipality of Tinglayan, Kalinga. The campaign aims to address critical skills gaps that are essential in fostering personal and professional growth within the community.

The IEC activity is a key component of two important projects: the Office Literacy Enhancement Project (OLEP) among LGU and BLGU Employees of Tinglayan through Time and Conflict Management: An Information Education Campaign (IEC) Dissemination under the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration program, which focuses on improving their proficiency in Time and Conflict Management. Through this project, the aim is to enhance the operational effectiveness and interpersonal communication skills of public sector workers, empowering them to manage daily challenges more effectively.

Additionally, the second project, titled Extending Financial Proficiency and Cash Flow Management through IEC Distribution to Achieve Financial Flexibility, is spearheaded by the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy program. This initiative provides employees with vital knowledge on managing finances, optimizing cash flow, and achieving greater financial flexibility. This is crucial for promoting financial literacy, helping individuals make informed decisions regarding their personal and professional financial well-being.

Both projects are designed to enhance the knowledge base of local government employees and community members, contributing to their overall efficiency, productivity, and financial stability. The distribution of IEC materials is a strategic effort to promote lifelong learning and capacity-building within the local workforce, aligning with the broader goal of community development in Tinglayan.

CBAA Faculty Coordinates with LGU Rizal for Employee Capacity-Building Trainings for 2026.

The faculty of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) visited the Office of the Human Resource Management of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Rizal, Kalinga on September 25, 2025, to discuss and coordinate possible training programs that the college can extend to the LGU employees.

The coordination meeting was spearheaded by the college’s Extension Chairperson, Mr. Nollie Boy D. Jerson, along with extension workers Ms. Marinelle M. Tocyapao and Mrs. Joy C. Dapeg. The team presented the college’s extension thrusts, particularly in the areas of leadership, management, financial literacy, office productivity tools, and professional skills enhancement, bookkeeping, which are aligned with the needs of LGU personnel.

During the dialogue, HRMO II Ms. Evaneissa Glenn V. Gazzingan expressed appreciation for the initiative and emphasized that the proposed trainings are both timely and relevant to the LGU workforce. She underscored the importance of equipping employees with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to improve service delivery and strengthen the organizational performance of the LGU.

The collaboration is expected to result in a series of training sessions tailored to address the specific needs of LGU employees. These may include workshops on financial management, office administration, records management, customer service, leadership development, bookkeeping, and other specialized programs that can enhance efficiency and productivity in public service.

This partnership reflects the college’s commitment to community engagement and extension services, reinforcing its mission of contributing to local development by sharing academic expertise and practical knowledge beyond the classroom. The CBAA faculty looks forward to sustaining this collaboration with the LGU of Rizal and to creating more impactful programs that empower government employees to better serve their constituents.

CBAA Faculty and DAR-Kalinga Partner to Empower Farmers through Capacity-Building Lectures

Apatan, Pinukpuk – Faculty members of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA), together with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR)-Kalinga, continue to strengthen the knowledge and skills of local farmers through a series of lectures on financial, strategic, and conflict management.

On September 19, 2025, CBAA faculty members Ruth Ann Marie A. Aquino and Laarni B. Velasco joined DAR-Kalinga in Apatan, Pinukpuk to deliver a lecture on Financial Management to the members of the Apatan Farmers Indigenous Association. Ms. Velasco focused on Financial Management for Cooperatives, aligning with the association’s plan to establish a cooperative targeted for registration within the year.

Earlier, on September 5, 2025, the same team visited Pinococ, Pinukpuk, where Dr. Aquino discussed Strategic Planning with the Pinococ Farmers Association, equipping members with tools to strengthen their organizational strategies.

On September 12, 2025, Ruth Ann Marie Aquino, Atty. Jaymee A. Os-ag, and Dianne G. Domingo traveled to Rizal, Kalinga to deliver lectures to the Bulbul Community Pumiyaan Consumers Cooperative. Atty. Os-ag handled the session on Conflict Management, while Ms. Domingo shared insights on Financial Management.

These initiatives reflect the continuing collaboration between the academe and government agencies to support farmers’ associations and cooperatives in Kalinga by enhancing their organizational, financial, and conflict management capabilities - key elements in their pursuit of sustainable growth and community development.

Empowering Local Associations through Skills Development

On August 15, 2025, the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) faculty-extension workers conducted a capacity-building seminar on Records Management and Leadership for the officers and members of the Imabilong Gardeners and Weavers Association, Inc. (IGWA) in Mabilong, Lubuagan.

This initiative forms part of the BSOA Department’s extension services in collaboration with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), aiming to strengthen Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) by equipping them with essential organizational and administrative competencies. Through this training, participants gained practical knowledge on systematic records organization, accurate documentation, and effective leadership strategies—skills vital for sustaining operations, ensuring transparency, and fostering teamwork within their association.

The resource speakers, Mr. Nollie Boy D. Jerson, Mrs. Joyda M. Kawis, and Mrs. Joy C. Dapeg, shared their expertise through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, ensuring that participants could directly apply the lessons to their day-to-day management practices. This effort reflects the University’s commitment to community empowerment, local economic development, and the preservation of IGWA’s cultural and livelihood heritage.

The College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) of Kalinga State University successfully conducted a three-day extension program in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Lubuagan from June 18 to 20, 2025, as part of its ongoing initiative to support the professional development and capacity-building of local government employees. This program specifically catered to the needs of newly-hired permanent LGU personnel, aiming to enhance their readiness for effective public service delivery.

The initiative featured three thematically designed sessions to holistically address key competencies in workplace performance, personal growth, and financial literacy:

1. Optimizing Workplace Harmony and Efficiency through Integrated Training in Stress Management, Conflict Resolution, and Time Management (June 18, 2025) – Focused on strengthening emotional intelligence, fostering teamwork, and improving time-conscious productivity to build a harmonious and efficient work culture.

2. Capacitating LGU-Lubuagan Employees through Personality and Professional Development (June 19, 2025) – Aimed at enhancing self-awareness, professionalism, and communication skills to empower employees in their roles and responsibilities.

3. Navigating Marketable Securities: A Hands-on Approach to Personal Finance and Investment Strategy Development (June 20, 2025) – Provided foundational knowledge on financial literacy, investment planning, and wealth management to promote personal financial empowerment.

The sessions were expertly delivered by resource speakers Mrs. Dianne G. Domingo, Mrs. Joyda M. Kawis, Ms. Marinelle M. Tocyapao, Atty. Johnny D. Wayet, and Mrs. Joy C. Dapeg, bringing in their extensive knowledge and experience in both academic and professional settings. The entire activity was efficiently facilitated by Mr. Nollie Boy D. Jerson, one of the project leaders of the extension initiative.

This collaborative effort between the university and LGU-Lubuagan reflects a shared commitment to fostering competent, responsive, and well-rounded public servants in the province.

KSU-CBAA and DAR Conduct Seminar on Strengthening Records Management for People’s Organizations

In a joint initiative to improve organizational governance and administrative efficiency at the grassroots level, the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) of Kalinga State University, in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) – Kalinga Provincial Office, successfully conducted a two-day seminar on Strengthening Records Management for People’s Organizations held on May 29–30, 2025 at Lubuagan, Kalinga.

The seminar aimed to capacitate the officers and members of local People’s Organizations (POs) in basic yet critical aspects of records management. These organizations play a vital role in community development, agrarian reform implementation, and local livelihood enhancement. However, many of them face challenges in systematically handling records, which are essential for transparency, accountability, operational continuity, and access to funding and partnerships.

The training was attended by the officers and representatives of various POs, including:
• Changoy Beader’s and Farmer’s Association, Inc.
• Antonio Canao Women’s Association
• Antonio Canao Multipurpose Cooperative

To ensure practical and academic rigor in the discussions, three faculty members from the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) program of KSU-CBAA were invited as resource speakers, each delivering key topics aligned with industry practices and academic standards:
• Mr. Nollie Boy D. Jerson opened the seminar with an insightful session on the Overview and Importance of Records Management, highlighting how effective records management contributes to efficient organizational operations, legal compliance, and historical preservation. He emphasized that proper recordkeeping is not only a technical function but a governance responsibility.
• Mrs. Joyda M. Kawis presented on the Records Life Cycle, illustrating the different stages that documents go through—from creation, maintenance, use, to final disposition. She provided hands-on tips on managing both physical and electronic records, and introduced tools for ensuring document integrity and confidentiality throughout their life span.
• Mrs. Joy C. Dapeg concluded the seminar by discussing the Filing System, offering strategies for categorizing, labeling, retrieving, and archiving documents. Her session included demonstrations of various filing methods and emphasized the importance of a systematic approach to minimize information loss and enhance organizational memory.

Participants expressed appreciation for the practical knowledge shared, noting that the seminar enhanced their understanding of how to streamline documentation processes within their respective organizations. Some participants even committed to immediately applying the strategies learned to improve their financial and membership records.

The activity not only strengthened the partnership between KSU and DAR but also reinforced KSU-CBAA’s commitment to community extension and nation-building by providing knowledge-based solutions that empower rural organizations. It also served as an opportunity for faculty to contribute to community development, while reinforcing the real-world relevance of their academic expertise.

This capacity-building initiative marks another step forward in bridging the gap between theory and practice and affirms the role of academic institutions in advancing inclusive development and administrative professionalism in rural communities.

KSU-CBAA in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform 🙏🏻❤️

The Bachelor of Science in Accountancy program successfully conducted an extension activity titled “Strengthening Bookkeeping Capabilities among Barangay Officials, Employees, and Barangay Organization Officers” on November 28, 2024, at the People’s Hall, Barangay Apatan, Pinukpuk, Kalinga.

This initiative aimed to enhance the financial management skills and bookkeeping proficiency of participants, empowering them to effectively handle the financial operations of their respective organizations. The activity included a series of workshops, and lectures facilitated by the faculty from the program.

The event was well-attended by barangay officials, employees, and officers from various community organizations, all of whom actively engaged in discussions and activities designed to address practical challenges in local financial administration. The initiative highlights the program’s commitment to community development through education and skill-building, fostering stronger governance and accountability at the grassroots level.

Closing the year with collaboration with POs, looking forward to a promising 2025.

The dedicated faculty of CBAA kicks off its goal to help sustain People’s Organization in Kalinga through a Feasibility Preparation Seminar following a series of trainings for year 2025.

The said extension activities are intervention plan tailored by the faculty based on research findings to augment the gap on sustainability of organizations that are primarily beneficiaries of the livelihood assistance, this research based activity is highly recommended by the AACCUP to create a great impact in the community, in support to SDGs and AmBisyon Natin 2040 representing the collective long-term vision and aspirations of the Filipino people for themselves and for the country up to 2040. It describes as the kind of life that people want to live, and how the country will be (NEDA).
