A serious game is an interactive game used to explore real-world challenges and spark reflection and discussion — not just entertainment.

In this workshop, you’ll take part in a serious game where we explore why it is so difficult for society to move away from unsustainable systems, and how new ways of thinking and telling stories about the future might help create change. No prior knowledge needed — just curiosity!

There have never been more educated people on this planet as there are today. Yet, if we cannot both learn and act with the knowledge that nature is being exploited beyond repair, what is quality education and lifelong learning worth?

Artificial intelligence technology, the rise of authoritarianism, war, conflict and forced migration are all factors challenging the “script” of education. We will explore and discuss our respective response-ability. As inspiration we will dive into the emerging positive trends of youth participation, global solidarity and activism, and alternative perspectives on regenerative education and transformative learning.

The conference is a meeting place for integral partners in a global community committed to upholding and strengthening quality education and lifelong learning and the scientific production of knowledge. We aim for frank, open and honest conversations about where we are now, where we want to go, what we will keep and what we need to let go of.
