At 114, she is among the world’s oldest known humans and regarded as the oldest native Californian still living in the state.

We joyously celebrate Black chefs, writers, and creatives in food everywhere ... Bryant Terry, Soul Food Scholar, Vallery Lomas to name a few. This month, we've teamed up with Omnivore Books to launch an impactful giveaway promotion that simultaneously spotlights BIPOC authors, whilst honoring Bay Area food workers who have been hard hit by the pandemic.

Award season is upon us! The Sophie Coe Prize is awarded each year to an engaging, original piece of writing that delivers new research and insights into any aspect of food history relating to any period, place, people or culture. Entries are capped at 10,000 words in the English language only and must be submitted by April 22, 2022 (Friday). £1,500 will be awarded to the winning entry.
