The international lightning community has expressed their wish for a spectacular event and, with several requests for extensions, the Scientific and Local Organizing Committee have decided to update the Extended Abstract Deadline one final time: 28 February 2022.

The Deadline for extended Abstract submissions to ICLP 2022 has been updated! Get yours in by 15 February 2022.

Important Deadlines:
Extended Abstract: 1 February 2022
Notification of Abstract Acceptance: 21 February 2022
Registration Opens: 1 April 2022
Full Paper Submission: 1 May 2022
Notification of Paper Acceptance: 20 June 2022

Conference in Cape Town: 2 - 7 October 2022

Review Process:
Full papers will be peer reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Papers that are accepted and presented by an author will be published in conference proceedings and consequently be included in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Please note at least one author needs to register and present the work at the conference.

Save the Date!
For the first time in its history, the International Conference on Lightning Protection (ICLP), one of the most prestigious international lightning protection conferences, is coming to the African continent - and how appropriate! With some of the most spectacular thunderstorms in the world, South Africa’s long history of lightning research and our experienced protection industry, ICLP 2022 and South Africa are a natural fit.

ICLP 2022 South Africa is organised Prof Ian Jandrell and his team from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. The team consists of researchers from the Center of Excellence in High Voltage Engineering housed in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering.

The conference will be held as an in person event in our beautiful Cape Town from 2 to 7 October 2022. With Table Mountain as the backdrop, expect a large gathering at ICLP 2022.

We invite you not only to come and share cutting edge knowledge and research on lightning and lightning protection, but also to experience our world famous, South African hospitality.
