Spent the weekend in DC! The Animal Rights 2017 National Conference on Friday was inspiring. I listened to Alex Hershaft, the president of Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM), speak about vegan advocacy and the nature of social change, learned detailed information about vegan nutrition from Dr. Klaper, and scored a beautiful shirt from Mercy For Animals. Brought home so much swag - even free lipstick from Kat Von D, who received the Celeb Animal Advocate Award. Saturday and Sunday were full of snacks from Fare Well, HipCityVeg, and dc dosa. Homemade tacos and pizza were killer, courtesy of Jeff's aunt, our hostess. And rooftop drinks from bars overlooking DC. Phenomenal weekend.

Yay for Friday! If you're feeling creative in the kitchen this weekend, I shared my favorite lasagna recipes (for marinara, ricotta, and parm) on the V-Grits blog. Loving me some lions mane mushrooms π right now. π They taste like lobster. I picked them up locally at Rainbow Blossom Natural Markets in St Mathews. Tonight we made a gourmet white pizza, using the mushrooms, butternut squash, and caramelized onions. With V-Grits mozzarella and ricotta.

One pretty nifty perk about constantly writing recipes is getting to explore and learn more about different cuisines. I love tweaking things to make them plant-based. Sag Aloo is an Indian side dish that combines spinach, potatoes, and spices. I'm topping it with Tempeh Masala, marinated and cooked in spices like cumin, cinnamon, and coriander. I just want to take a moment and say THANK YOU for all the recent messages about the Cutthroat Kitchen victory! Apparently the episode is now available on Netflix and many folks are seeing it for the first time. It was an incredible experience and I'm grateful for that opportunity to represent vegan cooking.
