Homeschooling is stronger together.

One of the best parts of these fairs is connecting with incredible vendors who are making learning meaningful, engaging, and accessible for families.

🔬 — Simple, engaging science lessons that make it easy for families to dive into STEM without overwhelm.

✨ — Literature-based curriculum that brings learning to life through rich stories and hands-on discovery.

🌍 — Unique world history curriculum with Alaska-focused content and immersive, on-location video learning.

🗣️ — A practical, conversation-based approach that helps families naturally learn a new language together at home.

So inspired by the creativity and passion across this community!

Big feelings → calm minds → ready to learn.

Just wrapped up the IDEA Fair in Fairbanks, Alaska—another great two days connecting with homeschool families who truly understand the power of regulation before education.

Here’s what IDEA families shared about ParentingEQ’s Life Skills Curriculum:

💬 “It’s a great curriculum to help us learn how to manage our big feelings.”
💬 “The feeling puppets have taught all my kids about emotions—we love them!”
💬 “The games are so fun, the kids don’t even know they are learning.”
💬 “It works—we can calm down faster. Great resource!”

So grateful for these conversations and the shared commitment to raising emotionally strong, capable kids.

👉 Enrolled IDEA families can place orders with direct billing from their 2026/27 allotment here:

Next stop: Fairbanks, Alaska ✈️

So grateful for all the families who have come out...loved connecting with you and sharing ways to support your kids.

I’ll be in Fairbanks next, presenting on Raising Resilient Kids. I hope to see you there!

I’ve also loved seeing what the other vendors are creating. There are so many thoughtful and creative resources available.

— Love how you’re bringing nature into learning in such a meaningful way.
— such a fun, hands-on way for teens to dive into media arts and creative electives.

If you can’t make it in person, you can still catch the recording from the virtual fair (April 15) on the Whova app.

When your child is overwhelmed, try this:

✔Pause (don’t push through)
✔Acknowledge the feeling (I notice _____)
✔Help them calm their body

Even 60 seconds of slowing down can prevent a full meltdown.
It’s not about stopping the feeling— it’s about helping them move through it.

💙 This is one of the core strategies we teach.

Parenting isn’t just about managing behavior—it’s about building lifelong skills.
In this session, we’ll explore what behavior is really communicating and how to help kids refocus, manage stress, and build emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience.

Come say hi if you’re there 💙

What do you actually say when your child is overwhelmed?

Because let’s be honest…
“Calm down” never works.

Try this instead:
✨ “I can see this is really hard right now.”
✨ “I’m here with you.”
✨ “Let’s take a minute together.”

These simple shifts help kids:
✔ feel understood
✔ calm their body
✔ get back to thinking clearly

And that’s when learning (and listening) can actually happen.

💙 Small moments like this can completely change the tone of your day.

If you want more simple strategies like this, we put them together in a free Calm Kids Toolkit: https://www.parentingeq.com/free-resources

It’s not that kids won’t learn…it’s that they can’t when they’re overwhelmed.
When kids are frustrated, anxious, or dysregulated, their brain isn’t ready to focus, think, or retain information.

That’s why we say:
✨First regulate, then educate

Before correcting behavior or pushing through a lesson, we have to help kids:
✔ calm their bodies
✔ feel understood
✔ get back to a place where learning is possible

Because once they’re regulated…everything goes more smoothly—learning, behavior, and connection.

✨ This is exactly what we focus on inside ParentingEQ.
If you want something simple to start using right away,
I created a free Calm Kids Toolkit with easy strategies you can use in real moments.

Growing up today brings with it a whole new set of challenges for our teens. You may have noticed that they have felt overwhelmed or exhibited symptoms of anxiety. The good news is that there is a solution! We can teach our kids concrete tools to reduce anxiety, manage stress, and learn how to effectively problem solve by building their emotional intelligence (EQ). Research has shown that children with high emotional intelligence do better in school and get along well with others. A high EQ can set them up for life-long success.
