When something actually stops me, it means something.
Two things did recently. That true friends celebrate your wins like they’re their own. And that out of everything that may or may not matter today — you woke up. That does.
I felt like both needed to be said out loud again.
I don’t know who first said these; I came across them and they stayed with me. But I’m grateful for them.

There’s a kind of exhaustion that comes from doing all the work. The coaching. The therapy. The workshops. And still feeling like something isn’t quite connecting. Isn’t quite clicking.
It might not be that you haven’t worked hard enough.
It might be that no one has ever sat with you fully as you are. Unable to hear you through the calm you carry without quietly suggesting you should change. Be a little louder. A bit more. As if somehow, there’s something wrong with you.
Introverts carry that weight for years.
The work I do doesn’t ask you to become someone else. It challenges you and asks you to finally stop performing. Stop over producing. Stop pushing yourself until you feel less like yourself to show up.
There isn’t a better version of you waiting to come out.
It’s just you. Lighter.

You won’t find me here every day. My nervous system is wired a little differently.
I’m an introverted coach. Noise is something I’ve learned to step away from regularly so I can return to myself fully.
So when I do show up here, it’s intentional. I read thoughtfully. I comment with care. I share from the heart.
There was a time I wished I could be different. It seemed like life might be easier that way. But now I’m simply grateful for my authenticity, because it reaches the people it’s meant to reach.
Introverts are everywhere, quietly navigating a world that rarely turns the volume down. And sometimes, our quiet visibility makes all the difference.

The Loneliness of Leadership.
One of the most surprising things about working with high-level leaders and ministers is realizing just how lonely they often are [46:53].
When you are the "strong one" for everyone else, it’s easy to feel like you can't show your own struggles. But as I shared with Crystal Petry on her podcast, you can’t heal what you hide [52:34].
Leadership is hard, and my hope is that this conversation helps you gain the clarity needed to live and lead lighter. We talk about:
Moving from "The Hulk" (survival mode) back to "Bruce Banner" (calm and creative) [42:00].
The difference between coaching and therapy, and why you might need both [20:17].
How leading from wholeness changes the entire culture of your organization [38:41].
If you know a leader’s heart or carry the weight of leadership yourself, I invite you to watch this. Share it. And let’s prioritize our well-being so our influence can be sustainable.
Let's heal together.

Leading Beneath the Surface: Macea Whissett on Trauma-Informed Coaching for Executives
Leadership doesn’t make you immune to trauma—it often hides it.On this episode of The Crystal Petry Podcast, host Crystal Petry sits down with Macea Whissett...

High-capacity leaders may be asking an important question: Do I need coaching… or therapy?
They’re not the same. And knowing the difference matters.
Therapy is clinical mental health treatment. It addresses diagnosis, symptom reduction, and deep trauma processing. It focuses on healing wounds and stabilizing functioning.
Trauma-informed coaching is different. It focuses on awareness, patterns, nervous system regulation, values alignment, and real-time application in leadership. It does not diagnose or treat. Clear boundaries are essential.
In coaching, we pay attention to:
• Regulation
• Emotional capacity
• Symptom intensity
• Ability to translate insight into action
The work is future-oriented. Where are you now, and how do we move you toward where you’re capable of being?
Often, coaching and therapy working in parallel create the strongest outcomes. One supports clinical healing. The other supports integration and forward movement.
Leadership done well requires the right support for where you are now, not pressure to perform from a place you haven't stabilized. Peace is powerful infrastructure.

Life flows more easily now. Not only am I clearer about who I was always meant to be, but in who I’m meant to serve in this season.
Misalignment is information. It’s a signal worth paying attention to, even when your heart pulls in a different direction. The heart keeps a careful record of the past. Often it’s trying to keep you comfortable, not necessarily guide you forward.
Living an integrated life means honoring your truth. It means not dismissing emotion in favor of logic, or logic in favor of emotion. Real wisdom asks for both.
The leaders who grow sustainably are the ones willing to listen to that internal data. Alignment is one of your most valuable assets. It’s what allows you to make clearer decisions, serve the right people, and build work that actually lasts.
We deserve peace as we lead. It isn’t optional. It’s part of the work.

Some days leadership looks composed from the outside and is tangled up on the inside.
There are days you want to pull your hair out. And you still have to show up clear, balanced, and responsible for the presentation and the message.
There are moments when your stomach churns from confusing conversations and sudden shifts. That part doesn’t get talked about enough.
One of the most underrated leadership muscles is feeling frustration without letting it drive.
The cost of handing it the wheel is too high. You care too much about the work, the people, and the person you’re becoming in the process.
You’re not failing in those moments. You’re practicing mastery.

We know this already, but leaders aren’t superheroes. You need rest.
If you’re not sleeping, it’s worth asking why.
If you’ve ever lived in a body running on adrenaline, waking up at 2 a.m. and unable to settle back down, you understand how hard it can be to slow down.
We talk a lot about leadership in terms of performance and output. But some of the biggest progress is less obvious: a regulated nervous system, solid rest, feeling able to be still.
That kind of progress changes more than people realize.
You’re better. Your teams are better. The environment is better.

Do you know why some people pull away when you’re supporting them, even after inviting you in?
Often it isn’t personal.
From the outside, everything can look calm and functional. Underneath, there may be strain, fear, or overwhelm that isn’t visible.
What looks like strength is sometimes survival.
I hold two truths at the same time: deep empathy for what someone may be navigating, and clear boundaries that protect my own capacity.
Balance and curiosity are essential in this work. So is the ability to discern. Discernment is what allows me to stay compassionate without abandoning myself.
That’s how support stays healthy for everyone involved.
Because I deserve it and so do the people I serve.
