Dear WCS Supporters,

As many of you know, this week, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California public health officials issued an updated policy on gatherings to protect public health and slow the community spread of COVID-19. The state’s public health experts have determined that non-essential gatherings of 250 people or more should be postponed or canceled.

The WCSPCF recognizes the public health risks COVID-19 poses and is taking preventative steps to help protect our community by postponing our Havana Nights Gala. The WCSPCF, along with Principal Allan Lehmann, and in concert with precautions being taken by DSUSD and California public health agencies, made this difficult decision out of concern for the health and safety of WCS families, neighbors, and sponsors. This is uncharted territory for us all, but in the end the decision became clear. Even if we are not at high risk ourselves, we have a public health obligation to take action that will prevent community spread of the virus.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate the rescheduling of the event. We will be in touch once we have solidified a new date. At that time, if you cannot attend, you may donate the cost of your ticket/s to help us reach our annual goal. Your donation will then become 100% tax deductible. Washington Charter School annual fundraising gala 'Havana Nights' George Washington Charter Elementary School's parent foundation will host its annual fundraising gala on Saturday, March 21, at the Renaissance Indian Wells.

The Washington Charter School Parents' Club Foundation (WCSPCF) is governed by parent volunteers and is a representation of all the families at WCS. As a board, it is our goal to raise funds needed to continue the exemplary programs that distinguish our school. We work with school administration and teachers to enhance the educational opportunities and positive learning environment for our students. The Parents' Club Foundation is a non-profit organization, so donations made throughout the year are 100% tax-deductible.
