The Department of Technology, Faculty of Indigenous Health Sciences and Technology, Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, successfully conducted a Guest Lecture on “Emerging Technologies in Biomedical Technology” to enhance students’ understanding of medical device compliance, research and development (R&D), project management, and innovation in health technology.

The session was conducted by Mr. Angelo Perera, CEO and Co-Founder of B-CAN Solutions Pvt Ltd, and was highly engaging, informative, and well-received by the students. It greatly enriched their learning experience and inspired academic curiosity in the evolving field of biomedical innovation.

A heartfelt appreciation goes to Mr. Angelo for his inspiring session and for igniting curiosity and passion among our future biomedical technologists!

Our talented students from the Department of Technology showcased their creativity and innovation at DHack 2025 (https://dhack.lk/)– Design-a-thon, organized by the Students’ Association of the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Out of 57 university teams that competed, two of our teams -Team MediMinds (Nilupul Wickramasinghe, Divyani Liyanage & Ashani Dissanayake) and Team PixelPro (Osh*tha Dilshan, Aruni Ekanayake, & Yohani Sooriyabandara) made it through the semi-final rounds to the finals, demonstrating exceptional skill and passion in UI/UX design.

A special congratulations to Team MediMinds for securing the 2nd Runner-Up position with their innovative project “AidMate”, a digitalised first-aid knowledge platform that enhances accessibility to essential emergency guidance. The final round was held on 1st November 2025.

We are incredibly proud of both teams for their creativity, teamwork, and for representing the Department with excellence!

Guest Lecture on “Emerging Technologies in Biomedical Technology Related to 3D and 4D Printing of Biomedical Materials—Trends, Challenges, and Future Overview.”

Department of Technology, Faculty of Indigenous Health Sciences and Technology, Gampaha Wickramarachchi University of Indigenous Medicine, successfully organized a guest lecture on 23rd October 2025 for the students of the BHSc. (Hons) in Biomedical Technology (2020/2021) degree program.

The session was conducted by Dr. A. A. Gayan Kavinda Siriwardana, Senior Lecturer (Grade II), Department of Materials and Mechanical Technology, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Dr. Siriwardana delivered an insightful lecture on mechanisms and applications of 3D and 4D printing technologies in the biomedical field, along with fascinating perspectives on emerging advancements such as 5D and 6D printing. His presentation sparked great interest and curiosity among students about the evolving world of biomedical technology.

A heartfelt appreciation is extended to Dr. Siriwardana for his valuable contribution and for inspiring our future biomedical technologists!
