We participated in Pioneer Days yesterday, and many of my students gave great demonstrations!
It was very hot, but everyone did a fantastic job showing off their skills and spirit!

Thank you to all the students who performed, as well as the parents and friends who came out to support us!

I am pleased to announce that my longtime karate friend, Dr. F, has just published a book titled “What is your KARTE?”.

This book features the histories of many martial artists from around the world. As the first volume of this series, it highlights Mr. Ademir da Costa, one of the greatest fighter of all time. He was my idol when I was teenager. I learned so much from his fighting style, and he was a true inspiration for my path in karate.

Dr. F included my story in this book, and I am derply privileged to be featured alongside my childfood idol. I may be nobody compared to the other great martial artist in this book, but it is a wonderful opportunity to share the style of karate that I teach.

US Yoshukai Karate may not be a large organization, but it was created by our founder Soke Hiroyuki Koda, who touched and changed so many people’s lives. Without his guidance, I would not be here teaching this style today. I am truly fortunate to be surrounded by such wonderful students and thier families as I continue to pass on this great art.

Again, I am nowhere near the level of a world-class martial artist, but Soke Koda certainly was!

I can not thank Dr. F enough for giving me this opportunity to share US Yoshukai Karate with the world. I hope many people who read this book will come to know and appreciate our style.

Today, we had our summer group workout!
The forecast called for almost 100% thunderstorm, but luckily the rain held off during the workout!

We practiced basic techniques together, then divided into groups for some team completions, a board breaking contest, and blindfolded cutting watermelon by samurai sword!
Afterwords, we enjoyed a cookout and swimming!

Thank you to everyone for coming and bringing foods!

I took some more group pictures for the students who competed at the Bluegrass State Game last Saturday.
Here is more details of the results!

White belt
Kash : Two 3rd places

Yellow belt
Henry: Three 1st places
Kenta: Two 1st places & one 2nd place
Grace: two 1st places

Brown belt
Hudson: Two 1st places & one 2nd place
Judson: One 1st places & two 2nd places

Black Belt
Mr. Liam: Two 1st places & one 2nd place
Mr. Drew: One 1st place, one 2nd place, one 3rd place

Originally Kenta had three 2nd places, but the tournament director, grandmaster Sauber contacted me that there were some mixed up in the ring and Kenta ended up competed with intermediate, so she gave him two 1st places! Thank you grandmaster Sauber for taking time to check the results and gave him correct medals.

So, 7 out of 8 competitors got 1st places in forms. I can not be more proud of them!

It was Mr. Liam’s first time competing in black belt division, and he did really well.

My assistant Mr. Drew’s division had total 9 people. Winning in the black belt division is not easy, but he accomplishd two years in a row!

All my students performed well that representing US Yoshukai Karate!
Yoshukai means “Strive for excellence” and I make my students practice basic techniques over and over and that showed the result!

Congratulations to you all and keep practicing harder!

Two of my brown belts and I went to Covington to participate in the summer workouts hosted by Yoseikan Chito Ryu. This is my 3rd year attending this event.
Chito Ryu is our origin and they always welcome us and we enjoy spending time with them.
Two of my young students represented US Yoshukai Kentucky this year and they did very well!
I hope many of my students will participate next year to learn something new!

Thank you to everyone at Yoseikan Chito Ryu for your warm hospitality!
I am looking forward to working out with you all next year!
