We’re doing something a little different this holiday season. Houston has one of the largest populations of unhoused youth in America.

As the winter season approaches, hoodies are something that are great to have. They provide warmth, have pockets, and a hood to protect you from the elements.

There are a few ways you can support Educating While Black’s First Annual Hoodies for the Holidays Clothing Drive!

1. You can donate via PayPal
2. You can purchase from our Amazon wishlist
3. You can purchase new hoodies and contact us for drop off or pick up.
4. You can share this post with your friends!

We’ll collect hoodies through December 31 and start handing them out January 1 until they’re gone.

Contact me with any questions!

Part 3 of this series has been posted!

Culturally responsive teaching is a pedagogical method that uses students' customs, characteristics, experiences, and perspectives as tools for better instruction and significant student achievement.
In part three, we’ll examine these four strategies in further detail.

Community as Classroom

Utilization of Students’ Cultural Assets

Expanded Context and Varied POV

Diverse Instructional Resources and Materials

Most educators will be heading home to rest and regroup for at least a few days before starting the Spring 2023 school term. As we reflect on our practice and the impact and influence we have, I encourage you to take inventory of your skillset and capacity for creating culturally responsive learning spaces.
Our responsibility is not only to educate our children; it is our responsibility to empower them as well.

If you’re interested in discussing specific solutions or services, let’s talk!
