"People forget...he's down there...waiting..." 🔪

Happy 40th anniversary to Tommy McLoughlin's 1986 film, "Jason Lives: Friday the 13th part VI" with Thom Mathews & C.J. Graham. Here are some recent shots of locales as seen in the film including the cemetery, in town, the camp (at dusk) and Karloff's General Store. Many of the locales are almost unchanged from 40 years ago.

For whatever reason, the post I did yesterday for the 40th anniversary of "Maximum Overdrive" did not appear on this page despite multiple attempts. It is fitting however that if there was going to be a technical malfunction with Facebook, that it would happen on the 40th anniversary of a film where machines are malfunctioning worldwide. 😆

In any event, here is the Instagram post I did featuring locations seen in the film as they currently stand in Wilmington North Carolina with AC⚡DC's classic song in cue.

Some of the photos are featured on this post including Tim Shockey's amazing restoration of the one and only screen used Green Goblin head from the front of the semi.

The original message for the Fb post is in the Instagram post above and check out the Smoking Zombie Films YouTube channel for more loads of joy.

Thank you for your support and if you get a vibe of something's not right, don't forget to look over your shoulder. The machines are all about you, all around you...

"Hey numba waaann, you're the Duke!"

Here's one more post for the 45th anniversary of "Escape From New York" today. 🗽 The Old Chain of Rocks Bridge served as the 69th Street Bridge when Snake Plissken and friends were crossing it at night for the film's conclusion. Here's what it looks like today on a gusty day in broad daylight over the Mississippi River in June 2026.

John Carpenter's "Escape From New York" 🗽 was released 45 years ago today. Here is some recent photography of the locations seen in the film. Most of the film was shot in a then burned out area of downtown St. Louis substituting for the Manhattan prisoner island. Locations seen in the film include Union Station's Interiors & Train Shed, The Fox Theatre & The Old Chain of Rocks Bridge.

It’s hard to believe that 13 years have gone by since Richard Brooker’s passing. For those of you who don’t know who he was, here is a little recap…

Richard Brooker was born on November 20th 1954 in Münster, West Germany. He immigrated to England in his younger years until he finished his schooling. In his 20's, he pursued the profession of trapeze artist performing amazing stunts and acrobatics. He then left England to pursue a career in film, landing in LA his later 20's.

At the age of 27, he got cast as "Jason Voorhees" in Friday the 13th part III in 1982 after responding to an ad in Dramalouge. Later, he would go on to star in a few other films and television series. Shortly after his pursuit as an actor, he created his own company in the late 1980’s, Production Access Network and won an Emmy in 2006 for a technological creation for camera to camera transmission.

On a personal note, Richard was a very engaging conversationalist and had a great energy about him. He was more than happy to share with you about any of the behind the scenes stories from Friday the 13th part III or any of his other projects. But one of the greatest things I can tell you about the man was that even though he was happy to share about himself and his experiences working in film, he wanted to know about you first and foremost.

He remarked to me upon meeting him "Sure, I'd be happy to tell you about that but what about you. What do you like, what do you do...tell me about what makes you you." That struck me and made a lasting impression. Still to this day, of the number of people I have met in the world of film, he is the only one to ever ask that. To meet a person in film whose work you like and in return, them wanting to know about you is truly a unique characteristic that most individuals in the entertainment business dont have. It's one of the many things that made him special, a rarity.

Happy Friday the 13th! ☘️ Hope all have a killer pre St. Patrick’s Day weekend. 🔪

To start off the weekend fun, here is a recently assembled “original dream sequence” from the end of Friday the 13th part 3 by Paul Phoenix: https://youtu.be/hlrD978N9ME?si=N1N6po71HthMux2O

In the movie, the end of this sequence would most likely switch to Chris screaming in the back of the police car as the nightmare ends.

After this sequence was filmed in 1982, it was left on the cutting room floor in lieu of the less effective canoe rehash attack. To our knowledge, the film of the original “beheading dream sequence” is sadly long gone and only exists as stills. This is most likely the closest we’ll ever get to seeing what the scene would have been like in the film. A special thanks to Paul for doing it.

Further, there was a plan to share about this cut sequence in our documentary but no one had anything to offer about it as only Dana Kimmell and Richard Brooker were in the scene with a small crew. However, there are many other fun stories shared in the documentary.
