Seeing PASS move from individual clinicians to entire teams and districts is something I don’t take for granted.
I created PASS to be practical, efficient, culturally responsive, and immediately useful in therapy. Hearing that SLPs are advocating for it within their schools means something to me 😭
Thank you for believing in something built by a busy SLP for busy SLPs.

It’s National SLP Day!! I am so so grateful to have a career that I love, that helps people, gives me so much flexibility, and I get to use both sides of my brain everyday!
This field is truly amazing and so are the professionals in it 🫶🏾 most people don’t know how difficult and rigorous it is to become an SLP, and that’s regardless of privilege and resources.
Your journey is one of a kind and nobody will understand what it took for you to get here but you. But we’re so happy to have you ☺️🫶🏾

Far too many school-based SLPs have caseloads that are inundated with students who don’t actually need school-based services. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they wouldn’t benefit from any services at all, though. And I think we need to do a better job of servicing that gap.
If you’re a school SLP, be sure to add to your resource list for next year 💙 launching early summer!!
Independent clinicians, make sure your SpeechConnect listing is ready for launch 🚀 at SpeechConnect.org
Because one things my kids are gonna do is clean up 😅😂
Even when we’re not seeing clients in home, there are so many functional skills we can target that easily generalize to other setting and scenarios!

I was physically shaking as I made this post.
I’m so, so sorry for Sonya and her family. I’m so hurt for the Black community who cannot feel safe anywhere, including our own homes.
Sean Grayson has been fired and currently faces murder among other charges.

I'm so excited to announce my VERY FIRST live event!
I've recently given a similar presentation to a couple of NSSLHA chapters and felt there's so much I've learned along the way and want to continue to share.
I created this whole presentation with "be the person you needed when you were younger" in mind. From students to grad clinicians, current SLPs and SLPAs, I truly feel this presentation covers something for everybody.
Seats are LIMITED!! Reserve your spot ASAP.
(Student tickets at a discounted price)
See you THURSDAY!

I think for an organization to claim they care about their constituents, they actually have to do things FOR those constituents.
Even outside of this list, I can think of so many little things ASHA could’ve done over the past year or two to improve its relationship to us:
—waived, decreased, or provided a payment option for dues
—sent us PPE (if I got literally one mask in the mail from ASHA I would think to myself “wow.. look at them making an effort”😂)
—been truly transparent about where our dues are going
—offering mental health support (a coupon code to an app like Calm/Headspace would’ve been cool)
—some acknowledgement of the emotional, physical, and mental strain it took to immediately become teletherapist
—actually doing something with whatever information they gathered from SLPs of color traumatic experiences they asked us to retell
What would you add on your wishlist?

I have nothing else to say except that these individuals and ASHA as a whole--who has the ability to choose not to pursue these complaints--are targeting Ianessa Humbert. I'm not okay with it. Nobody should be. And they should hear from us.
Edit: Although L. Wolford may benefit from white-passing privilege, it's important to note that she IS NOT white and I apologize for my mistake!

New designs available now ✨
These are important to me. When we think about mental health concerns, Black q***r youth are at the highest risk and the LEAST likely to receive professional care.
I need them to know they can come to me. Do they know they can come to you?
❣️stickers, sweatshirts, and t-shirts in these designs are available now with free shipping on Etsy (JRCtheSLP) 💛

What’s the worst part about ASHA renewal dues for you? 🙃
I remember when I just graduated, was anxiously waiting to start my CF, then BOOM it was fee, after fee, after fee. From ASHA to state licensure, other necessary certifications/requirements, background checks, etc. I had to pay for everything before I could start my job so I don’t understand how they expect people to be able to do that 🤔 my bank account was literally in the negative!! 😂💀
Sounds pretty ✨systemic oppressiony✨ to meeee.
I think that we deserve transparency from an organization we are supposedly paying hundreds of dollars to support us. What y’all think? 👀
