I often people with multiple cats mention how one of their cats is ALPHA of the house and bullies others. There is no study of cats that proves this.

Some of our domestic cats have learnt to live with others because they’ve had good experiences growing up living with other cats, while others are still as they would be in the wild: territorial. So, simply, if your cat bullies other cats it is simply because your kitty never learnt to exist amongst other cats, not because he is natural alpha or dominant.

Top TIP Tuesday!

If you have an older cat (especially 8+) it is not ADVISABLE to adopt a kitten. This will cause DISTRESS to your kitty as the energies won’t match

If you do want to adopt a kitten, it will be best to get TWO kittens instead, as then they can keep each other company and not bother the older cat 🐱

Free feed, while it works for some cats for sure, for most it leads to obesity and boredom.

In the wild the biggest activity of cats is the hunt, with our domestic cats, when this isn’t a requirement anymore, obesity and boredom can lead to a lot of heath and behavioural issues.

Here’s what you can do:

🐱 used time feeders for small and multiple meals

🐱 use activity feeders so the cat uses brain and body to “hunt” the food

🐱 do a short, rigorous play session with cat BEFORE meal time

Scent means everything to cats, so when you change things, bring new things or move house, it can be very distressing for cats, always make the changes gradual and don’t forget to transfer their scents to new things!
