Hi all. Given the high heat on Bonaire right now, we are postponing the September event and working on a new location for October. Sugar Thief will still provide the beers. In discussion with a historic location to host us, ocean front, breeze, plenty of space for many more to attend. Stay tuned for details.

We call ourselves professionals, but have you ever asked what does it mean to be a proffesional? Whether we are guiding, teaching or just hanging out in the shop people see our behavior. So next time you want to show a guest a cool critter or jump in the water without doing a buddy check, ask your self am I being a good role model. Point out the critters, but please don’t pick them up, leave them be.

Those who know me, know I love to teach. So it was exciting and a pleasure to be able to provide some of my presentations here in Fiji. For guests and staff I presented my Fitness to dive presentation. Then the next day around the picnic bench I provided Tourniquet training and provided the resort with a tourniquet, which they didn’t have. We also covered my presentation on the human element of diving as well as professionalism and what does that look like. Multiple staff members came to me after thanking me for the presentations. It’s always fun and rewarding doing these seminars.

Great article in this quarters Alert Diver, could not imagine bringing up two unresponsive divers. Its why we train, understand where our equipment is and what needs to be done. Training is everything. What is also cool about this article, is the photo? Check out Devon Buttenshaw doing what he loves. Way to go Devon making it into a publication.
