Since the beginning of August, director Eterei D Maiava and Benjamin Lelevaga traveled to Tutuila to choreograph and teach dance numbers for a production “The Legend of the Turtle and Shark”.
Citizens of American Samoa willing to join and be apart of the program got the chance to enhance their experience in the performing arts, or get a taste of what it felt like to be a true performer in the span of the 4 weeks of rehearsals leading up to the day of the production.
In almost a month, the two restless choreographers (Eterei & Benjamin) managed to teach a total of 8 dance numbers to a youth group consisting of teens and young adults and children still in primary school.

Congratulations to all of the Samoan Organizations that were awarded U.S. Government grants this year, as well as our numerous exchange program participants who have helped enrich both countries.
As Chargé d’Affaires Antone Greubel said, “It’s always an honor to support local NGOs and individuals. Grassroots action and people to people ties are two of the many strengths between our two nations.” 🇺🇲️🇼🇸 ️

Pesega's culture day was a huge success, beautiful programme, with a variety of cultural performances. This group in red rocked the stage with fierceness in them performing their contemporary traditional sasa and the girls’ solo.
Well done to these amazing students, most esp their parents for being very supportive, and not forgetting the teachers who helped to get the group together during rehearsals.
God is amazing. It is such a pleasure to see everyone enjoying our choreography performed by these hardworking pupils.
Again, I am blessed to have given back to this school that has given me so many cherished memories.

Director Eterei Maiava, per request, has been asked to share her God-given talent with the college students of Pesega. A former student herself, Eterei gladly took up the offer, assisted by her dancers.
It has been an absolute joy sharing our knowledge with these driven pupils, and we look forward to contributing more in the sessions to come.
