Time to get ready for another year of fun learning!
Happy Teachers Day 2020. A big thank you to all our teachers for the hard work, dedication and love they put in to teaching all our children and building their knowledge but also for helping them grow their imaginations so they can fly high.
Great work by our students learning their numbers.
Happy independence 40 everyone. Have a great day.
Have a happy day everyone.
Happy Children's Day 2020 to all our lovely children and children everywhere.
Have a great week everyone.
Everyone is enjoying being back and learning with the friends. We celebrated kindy week this week, practised K, and learnt about land transport.
Happy birthday Damen. Good social distancing.
Welcome back everyone, it is wonderful to see the lovely smiling faces of our beautiful students back and excited to show their learning. It is a difficult time around the world at the moment, but here is our hope and sunshine of the future.
Good morning everyone, hope things are getting easier now with the easing of Covid restrictions, but still remember to wash hands, cough or sneeze into your elbow, and don't spit. The children will conitnue with home learning this week, and hopefully start back next week. Just a reminder, that this school's only income is from your school fees, and while the government has offered some relief for the lock down time, we need you to pay your fees for the time before this and in the future. Without the fees we cannot buy resources or pay the teachers, so thanking you in advance. Also hoping any of your family in cyclone affected areas are well and getting things back together. Best wishes for a good week.
Hi everyone, hope you are all doing fine in these stressful times. It is important at such a stressful time to not put added pressure on your children. Keep them close, know where they are and what their doing as it is easy to get in to mischief when bored. If you are wanting your children to keep up their English skills then speak with them in English as well as Bislama, French or Language (kids have a great capacity for language) what ever your preferred language is at home. Learning happens everywhere. One of the most important things you can do is read to your kids and get them to read to you. Play games for number - get me 5 rocks or 3 leaves. Count clouds in the sky, spoons in the drawer. Worksheets are not the learning, the learning is in the talking, listening and doing and then filling out the worksheet shows what they learned. Make a garden, get them to make their bed, clean their room, do the dishes, sweep the floor - kids love to help. Ask them to tell you the colours and shapes of things around them. Draw them pictures to colour. Yes school is important, and when all this is over they will go back and be stronger more capable little people for the love and time you spend with them. Keep washing your hands, not gathering in big groups and cherishing this time you have to spend together. Stay safe and take care from PVLHS.
PVLHS will have an early two weeks school break as of Monday, 23March 2020. Teachers will use the two weeks to prepare self-learning n flexible activities for students n parents to do at home of each child when classes commence after two weeks.
Thanks n follow hygiene rules to teach your child to prepare n prevent COVID-19 virus.
It is trying times everywhere in the world, so we need to work together as a community and support everyone and think of others. Last week was a quiet week due to the windy weather and election but the kids were still working hard. It may look simple just colouring some triangles, but that is the beauty of integrated learning. The children learn shape, colour, number and improve their fine motor skills. The older ones are thinking creatively using puzzles in different ways to create something unique. We will keep you updated as to whether the school will be open and we will be following the government guidelines.
And the morning class didn't have all the fun. There was also celebration in the afternoon class as the lovely Lydiana celebrated her 4th birthday which is on Sunday. Party weekend in the Kalourai house this week.
Another busy week for our little learners. We practised cutting to improve fine motor skills and creating our own designs. We started learning our songs of Easter and celebrated 2 birthdays. Happy 5th birthday to Majoreece today and happy birthday to Jeffrey for tomorrow.
Being a part of a child's growth is such a wonderful gift.
Words matter. 💜 Wondering when your LO will start speaking to you back? We've got answers here: http://wte.to/Kwy4kLx
Phonics, the way letters sound and go together to make words is an important part of learning to read. Last week the children showed lots of creativity while learning their sounds.
Week 4 is about to begin and we look forward to seeing more fun learning. Last week was a short week as the nation celebrated the contribution to our nation of Fr Walter Lini. In our class we discussed this and the start of Vanuatu as it is important to know about our beginnings. In the kindy apart from having great times building our relationships through play based learning, we also talked about our families and our environment. The kids loved getting in the dirt and planting seeds to start our garden. Class 1 and 2 have been working very hard on their English and numbers as well as learning about measurement and discussing their families.
Another fun week at Port Vila Learning House School, with more friends joining us this week. We had fun making love heart art and talking about the people we love and who are important to us. We also celebrated Jayden's birthday. Happy birthday Jayden. Happy Valentine's Day to all the people who are special to us.
Wow, what a great start we have had to the year! The classes are filling up and the children are very excited about all the different learning opportunities. Puzzles are very important in brain development. By having to figure out size, shape and colour to create a picture builds great connections in the brain. Doing it together builds social and communication skills. Morning and afternoon kindy are getting in to their routines and doing really well. Class 1&2 are working hard, with lots of discussion, writing and reading. I am very proud of how our returning students are helping our new students understand the routines and making them feel welcome. I am looking forward to dropping into the classrooms over the internet each week to bring a new element to learning.
There is never a shortage of laughter at PVLHS,

We have as our educational goal to produce intelligent. caring, competent, loving and lovable people. When we care we want to do the very best for the those we care for. We respect a full range of human talents and understand not everyone can be the top in maths, science, or English but everyone can be helped to do their best, and to learn how to live lives of deep care for others, the natural world and its creatures, and to protect the world made by humans. Everyone can be helped to develop skills and knowledge needed to make positive contributions to the world regardless of what path they may follow.
