The concept of championing sovereign seas has become an increasingly urgent priority for Vietnam as a maritime nation. While governments and armed forces play a decisive role in safeguarding territorial integrity, the younger generation can make indispensable contributions through peer education, public consciousness, and proactive civic engagement.
It is undeniable that education plays an instrumental role in shaping society's awareness regarding maritime sovereignty. However, youth advocacy should not merely involve passively receiving knowledge; rather, young people must become active advocates who educate their peers and communities. By mastering historical archives—such as the Nguyen Dynasty records - and legal frameworks like the 1982 UNCLOS, youth can lead digital peer-education campaigns to combat misinformation and promote historical truth online. When knowledge is shared through the creative, tech-savvy lens of youth, it forms an impenetrable mental shield against false claims, reinforcing society's collective commitment to islands like Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.
In addition to educational advocacy, civic engagement—such as participating in community projects, coastal cleanup programs, or youth forums—plays a vital role in translating awareness into real-world action. Youth-led initiatives in Vietnam's coastal provinces, where students collaborate with local coast guards and fishermen to raise awareness about marine protection, have proven highly effective in strengthening national pride. Furthermore, leveraging English as a global language allows young advocates to bring Vietnam’s peaceful and lawful stance to international platforms. Cultivating this hands-on civic spirit is just as essential as formal education in preparing youth to become active guardians of national sovereignty.
In conclusion, although national defense relies heavily on state policy and military vigilance, the frontier of sovereignty protection belongs equally to the youth. Through proactive self-education, digital advocacy, and meaningful civic action, young people can effectively safeguard Vietnam's sacred seas and ensure that the nation’s maritime legacy endures for generations to come.

I am asking them to recognize a simple human truth: that every nation, no matter how small, has the right to its own waters, its own story, and its own future.
I want young people everywhere - not just in Vietnam - to understand that protecting what belongs to us does not require anger or conflict. It requires knowledge, patience, and the courage to speak with facts instead of slogans. Advocacy is not reserved for diplomats or admirals; it begins the moment a student chooses to learn instead of ignore, to ask instead of assume, and to share instead of stay silent.
I also want this message to carry gratitude - for the sailors, border guards, and fishermen who spend their lives so that a coastline can remain a home rather than a contested space. Their sacrifice is quiet, but it is the foundation upon which every festival, every fishing village, every child growing up on a small island gets to exist in peace.
Finally, I want to leave behind a sense of belief: that my generation - inheriting a story we did not write - is capable of becoming its next narrators. Not through conflict, but through understanding. Not through slogans, but through truth spoken with confidence and respect. If this message reaches even one person who did not know Vietnam's seas the way I do now, then this sea - this story - has already grown a little wider.
In the end, the call I want to leave with every viewer is simple: know your roots, protect what is sacred to you, and speak for it - gently, but without fear.

Close your eyes for a moment, and picture Vietnam.
Not just the rice fields. Not just the busy streets.
Picture over three thousand kilometers of coastline and two names that every Vietnamese carries in their heart: Hoàng Sa, Trường Sa
To some, these might sound like distant dots on a map. But to us, they are sacred syllables. They are home.
Sovereignty over these waters is not just a political idea. It is written into old maps, royal decrees from the Nguyễn Dynasty,and confirmed by international law including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, which protects every coastal nation's right to its own waters.
This is not just paperwork. It is how small nations protect their right to exist.
But sovereignty is also protected by people.
Right now, somewhere on the East Sea, a young sailor is standing watch.Coast Guard officers, border defense forces, fishermen who never came home they gave their nights, their holidays, sometimes their lives, so that a line on a map could stay ours.
Their courage is quiet. But it never stops.
And the sea is not empty. It lives.
Fishing villages paint eyes on their boats so the boats can ""see"" their way home. slands in Trường Sa hold schools, pagodas, children who grow up believing that even the smallest piece of home is worth protecting.
This is not just territory. This is culture. This is memory.
So where do I fit into this story?
I did not live through the struggles that shaped these borders. But I inherited them. And so did you.
Advocacy does not need a uniform. It needs curiosity. It needs honesty. And it needs courage to speak in classrooms, on social media, in competitions just like this one.
To my friends around the world, I want you to understand this:
Sovereignty is not a line drawn by governments.
It is the right of a people to their history, their way of life, their identity.
When a young Vietnamese speaks about Hoàng Sa and Trường Sa,we are not repeating a slogan.

But growing up in the digital age, I realized something important. Sovereignty is not just about lines on a map or remote island markers. It is right here in our hands, on our smartphone screens, through every click, and in how we choose to think every single day.
Our generation grew up in peace, connected to a flat world through the internet and social media. Yet this peace can sometimes lull us into thinking that defending our country is only the job of politicians or the military.
That is a dangerous mindset. Our homeland still faces silent waves today. They do not come as bombs or bullets. Instead, they appear as cultural encroachment, fake news, or illegal lines secretly drawn on digital maps.
So, how do we respond? It starts with exploring our roots.
Learning about sovereignty is not about memorizing dry facts. It is about emotional connection. Look at the map of Vietnam and feel how every grain of sand in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa carries the sacrifice of generations before us. History and law have long proven our sovereignty. Spreading sovereignty also takes courage. It means saying no to films or brands that insert false maps. It means speaking up on global platforms to defend historical truth. Every social media account, when used wisely, becomes a digital border marker keeping our online space safe.
Finally, words must lead to real action.
Patriotism does not require grand speeches. It begins with loving the Vietnamese language, preserving our traditions, and working hard in our studies to elevate our country internationally. When you master technology, contribute to the economy, or simply live with integrity, you are strengthening our nation from within. A country is truly invincible only when its people are educated, confident, and united.

It supports our economy, connects Vietnam with the world through international trade, and plays a vital role in protecting our country's security. Vietnam has thousands of islands, including the Hoàng Sa and Trường Sa archipelagos. It also creates great opportunities for fisheries, tourism, and sustainable economic development.
For these reasons, protecting Vietnam's maritime sovereignty is not only the responsibility of the government and the armed forces, but also the responsibility of every citizen. Every peaceful day we enjoy on the mainland is made possible by those who quietly protect our seas far from home. Today, soldiers and people on the Trường Sa Islands continue to protect our seas every day. Although they face difficult weather and living conditions, they never give up. Their courage and strong spirit remind us that love for our country is shown through actions, not only words. However, protecting our seas is not only the responsibility of those on the front lines. It also depends on every citizen, especially young people.
Unfortunately,there is still a worrying problem, especially among some young people. Some do not realize that protecting our seas also means protecting the marine environment. For example, leaving rubbish on beaches or ignoring pollution may seem unimportant, but these small actions gradually damage the beauty of our seas. Protecting our seas is not only about defending our sovereignty. It also means respecting the environment that future generations will inherit.
We should ask ourselves: if everyone behaved like this, what would happen to our country? The sea is not only a gift of nature; it is also part of our homeland, and it is our responsibility to protect it.
Today, Vietnam also faces many challenges in protecting its maritime sovereignty. For example, in 2014, China placed the Haiyang Shiyou 981 oil rig in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone without Vietnam's permission. Vietnam responded through peaceful measures and attracted the attention of the international community. This incident showed that protecting sovereignty requires not only courage but also wisdom, unity, and peaceful cooperation.
Vietnam's maritime rights are also supported by international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, or UNCLOS. For young people, understanding these legal foundations is important because advocacy should be based not on anger or unverified claims, but on knowledge, truth, and responsibility. Before raising our voices, we must first understand what we are speaking for.
As youth, we may not stand on the physical front lines, but we are never too young to make a tangible difference. We can learn our history, share truthful information, protect the marine environment, and use English as a powerful bridge to introduce Vietnam to the world. Every small action can spark a massive change if we all work together.
Like many teenagers, I used to believe that throwing away just one small piece of rubbish would not make any difference. However, that way of thinking changed when I joined the SÓNG CHỦ QUYỀN project. Through this project, I learned more about Vietnam's history and maritime sovereignty, and I finally understood why protecting our seas and islands matters to every Vietnamese citizen. Although I grew up near the sea, I had never joined a beach clean-up activity. I also admit that I used to throw rubbish away carelessly when visiting the beach. Looking back, I realize that I was not always responsible. Since then, I have tried to change my habits, care more about my community, and become a more responsible citizen.
I know I may never become a soldier guarding the distant islands. However, I can start right here, right now—by keeping our beaches clean, spreading the truth, and using my voice in English to tell the world about my homeland. Patriotism does not always begin with grand gestures. Sometimes, it begins with the small, conscious choices we make every day.
And perhaps that is where my country truly begins—not only on a map, but in the hearts, voices, and actions of every young Vietnamese.

When we look at the map of Vietnam, we can easily see the vast blue sea where Hoang Sa and Truong Sa stand proud. These beautiful islands are an inseparable part of our homeland. For hundreds of years, our ancestors worked very hard and even fought to protect our sovereignty here. Today, this historical truth is clearly proven by many ancient old records from the Nguyen Dynasty, and international laws.Hoang Sa and Truong Sa belong to Vietnam. They are always a big part of our history, our culture, and our identity.
Guarding these islands day and night are our brave Vietnamese soldiers and local families. We always remember the heroes who sacrificed for the peace of our country, especially the 64 brave soldiers at Gac Ma Reef in 1988. They stood together in a strong circle to protect the national flag until their last breath. Today, although the weather here is harsh with hot sun, strong wind, and heavy storms, life on the islands has become much better. The islands now have a stable power supply, decent hospitals, schools for children, and green gardens. With a positive and happy spirit, the soldiers and locals actively work and gather together to play the guitar and sing happily in their free time.
As the younger generation, we can protect our seas and islands through simple but meaningful everyday actions. First, we must learn our history from reliable, official sources. For example, we can learn from the recent 2026 exhibition titled "Hoang Sa and Truong Sa - Sacred Seas and Islands" at the Naval Region 3 Command in Da Nang. This event showed nearly 200 historical documents and artifacts, including the famous Nguyen Dynasty imperial records recognized by UNESCO. After the exhibition, these documents are touring many schools to teach students about our history. By learning about these facts, we can become responsible citizens. We can use our social media accounts to share truthful stories and beautiful pictures about our islands, while saying no to fake news. Furthermore, we need to respect international law, like the 1982 UNCLOS, to show that Vietnam always loves peace. Closer to home, let's protect the marine environment by reducing plastic waste and cleaning up local beaches.
In the future, I have a big dream. I hope that one day, I will have the chance to visit Hoang Sa and Truong Sa. I want to see the beautiful blue sea and the golden sunshine with my own eyes. More than that, I want to meet the brave soldiers and local people to know more about the sacrifices and how life there is. I want to talk to them, shake their hands, and understand the great sacrifices they make every single day to guard our borders. I believe that if we work together, young people instill a sense of patriotism. I believe that if together we are united, we can protect our seas and islands in general and Hoang Sa, Truong Sa in specific.
