‘Very’ is a common word in English. 👍⁣

We use it to give an adjective or adverb a stronger meaning.⁣
⁣
However, it can sound a little vague, repetitive and boring if used all the time. ⁣
⁣
If you want to help students sound more convincing and interesting, teach them to use words that are more precise. ⁣
⁣
Here are some alternative ways of saying ‘very + adjective’ in English. ⁣
⁣
Note – these are extreme adjectives so you can’t modify them with ‘very’. ⁣
⁣
However, you can use ‘absolutely’ or ‘completely’ for emphasis. ⁣
⁣
e.g. I’m completely swamped.⁣
⁣
