Before his visa interview, Huy took the time to prepare thoroughly by practicing common interview questions, reviewing his academic records, checking the transcripts provided by the school, and making sure he was familiar with important details such as his GPA, course grades, academic year, and overall academic progress.
This is also an important reminder from VHA for students preparing to renew their U.S. student visas. From VHA to Columbia University (Ivy League): Donald’s Journey and a First-Year Internship Opportunity at FIA - A Leading AI Startup in New York
“If there is one thing that laid the foundation for my journey, it was the opportunity to study Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at VHA,” shared Donald, a VHA alumnus.
According to Donald, his Robotics and AI classes not only introduced him to emerging technologies but also strengthened his problem-solving skills, providing a solid foundation for pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Beyond the classroom, the guidance and unwavering support of VHA’s teachers and academic advisors helped him maintain strong academic performance, develop essential skills, and prepare confidently for the college application process.
Building on this foundation, Donald was admitted to Columbia University, one of the eight prestigious Ivy League institutions, where he is pursuing a degree in Computer Science. During his first year of university, he also secured an internship at FIA, a leading AI startup based in New York, earning USD 6,000 per month as an AI intern.

🏅🤖 FROM THEIR FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION TO A TOP 5 FINISH IN HOUSTON
Over the course of more than six weeks, our students independently researched, tested, redesigned, and refined their robots day by day. Some ideas had to be rebuilt from scratch, and some challenges seemed almost impossible to overcome, but they remained committed and persevered until the very end.
At a competition featuring many of Houston’s top high schools, including The Kinkaid School (Top private school in Houston), Carnegie Vanguard (Top 1), DeBakey High School (Top 2), Lamar High School, Cinco Ranch High School, and many other prestigious schools, the Van Houston Academy Robotics Team achieved an outstanding Top 5 overall finish in their very first competition.
Their achievement is a clear reflection of VHA’s educational philosophy: when students are given opportunities, provided with the right guidance, and encouraged to explore their potential, they can confidently thrive in challenging academic environments and achieve results beyond expectations.

Donald’s journey of pursuing his passion began in Grade 7. Driven by curiosity and determination, he continuously sought opportunities to challenge himself and grow.
