IELTS Tip: Depth over quantity.
In IELTS, especially in Speaking and Writing, examiners are not looking at how many ideas you have, but how well you develop each one. It’s all about development.
Instead of just listing things, take one idea, explain it clearly, give reasons, and add examples. When you do this, your answer will naturally sound more fluent, more coherent, and more advanced.
For example:
Question: What do you like to do in your free time?
❌ Listing (Weak answer):
I like doing a lot of things in my free time. For example, I enjoy reading books, watching movies, and hanging out with my friends.
✅ Developed (Strong answer):
I’d say I mainly enjoy reading, especially books on personal development. I find them useful because they give me a clearer sense of direction and help me develop better skills in different areas of life. For example, I recently read a book about habit formation, and it genuinely helped me build a more structured routine, so I’ve become quite a bit more productive.
