Dear FB friends and supporters,
First of all, a big Thank U to those of you who have donated to our Thank U Library fundraising campaign in memory of Helen Lyons. This is to give you an update:
The good news is we have achieved two of our three objectives – funding to establish a library and farm at the Calvary Methodist School in Ghana. This will give local children somewhere to learn. In addition, the food the farm produces means starvation need not prevent them getting an education.
But… we still have a huge funding shortfall of £14,000. Without these funds, we cannot meet the third of our objectives – the creation of a computer lab on the site of the library and farm. This will give the children the skills they need to thrive in the digital-driven 21st Century.
Our current gofundme fundraising campaign ends on Friday, 8th September 2017. We are making one final push for donations by creating a new short film and launching a brand-new campaign on Friday, 1St September 2017.
We’ll tell you more soon, but in the meantime, it would be great if you could make a much-needed donation if you haven’t already, or spread the word about our campaign.
DONATE NOW:

Remember, everything you donate will help create a better future for children and people in their own communities. If we can eradicate poverty, it will stop future children and migrants endangering their lives on perilous journeys across the Mediterranean to Europe, to escape poverty.
Thank U for your time and your kindness,

Dear Facebook friends, do continue to reach out to us with your book donations. Why not become the collection point and get your friends to donate their used books, which are in good condition, to you. Then inbox us to let us know where and when you want us to do the pick-up.
We are setting up the library with 3000 books in total and are very grateful to Helen's family who have successfully collected 1,000 books which they are shipping from Australia, for the Library.
We still need to gather about 1,000 more books so we really appreciate all the efforts that you are putting into continuing the book drive. We welcome book donations particularly from the UK and US. Thank U.

Help us transform the lives of young children in Accra. The Library and Computer Lab we are establishing, is not enough if the children are hungry. That is why we are also setting up an adjoining farm, so the children can at least get fed, to enable them to learn. We can not accomplish this without your support, so please help us with your donation - no amount is to small because every little bit helps.

IS THIS FOR REAL?
Take a look at this Computer Class in one of the neighbouring Schools that will benefit from the 'Computer Lab for Schools,' that we are establishing in Ghana...
https://www.gofundme.com/helen-lyons-thank-u-library
In this Computer Class, where there is no computer in sight, the IT teacher is forced to teach the children how to work a computer mouse, using a piece of rock. Can you believe that? Now, if the reality of this level of poverty wasn’t quite so stark, one could almost see the funny side of it. Tragic, really!
Don’t even try to work out what internet access this piece of ‘rock-mouse’ will connect to… Let’s just put an end to this madness of poverty and join together in our numbers, to provide them with a proper Computer Lab; where they will learn the correct way, using the right equipment, as part of the Thank U library, that we are establishing in Accra.

Sadly also, many of these children start their day on an empty stomach. Now tell me, what could you possibly have learnt at School as a child, if you had gone in hungry every day? NOTHING! NOTHING whatsoever!
That is why we are asking you please, to support us with your donation, to enable us to attach a farm to this Thank U Library & Computer Lab, to feed the children every day.
How do they pay for the food? By taking their turn in tending the farm, as part of their practical lessons in their Agricultural Class, where they will also learn to become Agricultural Entrepreneurs.
Please share this with your friends and let’s TRANSFORM LIVES TOGETHER, in our numbers! Thank U for your Support!

By now, many of you are wondering who Helen Lyons is? …And what her connection with Kojo is? Well there is no direct connection with Kojo, as such. You see, it is children like Kojo who remind us that a ‘library alone is not enough, if a child is hungry’. His story brought home to us the need to attach a farm to the Thank U library, which just happens to be the one we were setting up in Helen’s name:
https://www.gofundme.com/helen-lyons-thank-u-library
Helen, an ardent believer in education, was a special friend and passionate supporter of all Thank U Charity projects. As our way of saying Thank U, we are establishing this Thank U Legacy Library at the Calvary Methodist Preparatory School, in her Memory.
Helen was an extraordinary Australian nurse, who passed away in March 2016. She lived in London for 40 years and for much of that time, suffered poor health, yet she bore her cross quietly and patiently. She never complained but was more interested in others than in herself. She was a generous benefactor who never turned her back, if ever there was a need. Everywhere Helen went, she did good, making a huge impact on many individuals, the clergy and Charitable organizations. She was the embodiment of practical faith and compassion.
Coming from an Australian farming community, it is fortuitous that the first library that we see fit to attach a farm to, just happens to be the one we are establishing in her name. It makes this a fitting memorial to a great teacher of humanity, fortitude, generosity and a ‘farm girl’.
Several members of Helen’s Family and friends are flying in to Ghana for the launch of this Unique Thank U Library, in September 2017. If you are also interested in coming to the Ghana this September for the launch, please inbox us directly with your email address, so we can send you all the information.

We launch our fundraising campaign on the 8th June 2017, to raise £36,000 to set up a unique library system to serve 20 local Schools and help spread literacy to a community of children who can’t afford to go to School. Help us provide:
- a 3,000 book library of very good reading material
- a Computer Lab with 30 computers to teach IT innovation and development, as well as offer a free alternative to formal education via an e-learning intranet digital box with access to a curriculum of a wide range of subjects.
- An organic farm using local resources, that will offer free nourishing food to hungry children, who will get practical lessons on the farm and learn to become agricultural entrepreneurs.
This project will not be possible without your help. Make your minimum donation of £20 in the first 3 days to be entered into a draw to win some awesome prizes!
