NEW ZEALAND: VĂN HÓA MĀORI VÀ NHỮNG ĐIỀU CẦN BIẾT

Māori là tộc người sing sống tại New Zealand trước tất cả những tộc người sang cư trú như người châu Âu, châu Á, châu Mỹ... Vì vậy nền văn hóa Māori được coi là bản sắc của xứ sở Kiwi và đặc biệt được Chính phủ cũng như người dân New Zealand coi trọng gìn giữ. Khi đến New Zealand, bạn cũng nên dành chút thời gian tìm hiểu thêm về văn hóa Māori từ ẩm thực, ngôn ngữ đến phong tục tập quán để có thể hòa nhập với các hoạt động chung của trường cũng như của công ty, bởi các tổ chức, công ty đặc biệt với quy mô lớn thường luôn chú trọng vào việc phổ biến văn hóa Māori cho bạn qua các hoạt động chung.

Về tộc người Māori New Zealand
Người Māori được coi là người bản địa của New Zealand Aotearoa. Ngôn ngữ Māori (Te Reo) là ngôn ngữ chính thức của New Zealand, bên cạnh Tiếng Anh và Ngôn Ngữ Ký Hiệu (Sign Language). Năm 2013, có gần 700,000 người sing sống ở New Zealand có gốc Māori (Hơn 1 trên 7 người tại New Zealand).

Văn hóa Māori đời thường
Văn hóa Māori có thể sẽ ảnh hưởng đến cuộc sống thường ngày của bạn, tùy thuộc vào nơi bạn sing sống và làm việc. Năm 2013, hầu như người Māori (86%) sống tại Đảo Bắc (North Island) - gần 1/4 (23.8%) tại vùng Auckland. Các khu vực có đông đảo người Māori sing sống nhất sau Auckland là vùng Waikato (14%), vùng Bay of Plenty (11.5%), và vùng Wellington (9.7%). Các quan niệm cơ bản
Khi sống tại New Zealand, bạn sẽ "ngấm" dần văn hóa Māori. Nhưng trước đó, hãy tìm hiểu 1 vài từ Māori và cách chào hỏi đơn giản cũng như những phong tục, concepts cơ bản nhé.
Te Reo - Ngôn ngữ và cách phát âm
Tiếng Māori (Te Reo) đang ngày càng được sử dụng nhiều hơn vào những năm gần đây, với số lượng từ Māori được sử dụng nhiều hơn kể cả với người không có gốc Māori. Dưới đây là 1 số từ thông dụng:
Whakapaingia ēnei kai

(Vì hạnh phúc và khỏe mạnh cho cơ thể chúng ta)

Radio New Zealand có 1 danh sách những lời chào hỏi/mở đầu tiếng Māori với hướng dẫn audio, bạn có thể nghe phát âm và tập theo. Bộ Văn hóa và Di sản New Zealand cũng có 1 bộ sưu tập tiếng và bộ tiếng của Māori với hướng dẫn audio, bạn cũng có thể tìm hiểu. Tiếng Māori không khó, viết sao đọc vậy, nên cũng là 1 trải nghiệm thú vị cho các bạn tại New Zealand.

Tên đường, địa điểm
Thỉnh thoảng bạn có thể nghe thấy cả 2 loại tên địa điểm hay đường phố ở New Zealand, gồm Tiếng Anh và Tiếng Māori. Có vài tên Tiếng Anh gần đây được thay thế bởi tiếng Māori nữa, tuy nhiên bạn sẽ nghe thấy cách đọc khác nhau bởi dân Kiwi không hẳn biết tiếng Māori, họ sử dụng tiếng Anh quen nên có thể sẽ phát âm nhầm tên đường đó!

Phong tục tập quán trong văn hóa Māori New Zealand
Nếu bạn đang sống ở NZ, bạn thực sự nên trang bị cho mình những kiến thức cơ bản về phong tục tập quán hay nghi lễ của người Māori. Đây là điều cần thiết nếu bạn muốn đến thăm 1 "marae" (nhà chung) hoặc được mời ghé thăm. Marae là tâm điểm của cộng đồng dân Māori bản địa ở mọi nơi trên New Zealand. Có 2 quan niệm trong văn hóa của người Māori bạn cần lưu tâm đó là Manaakitanga và Kaitiakitanga, cũng như 1 số nghi thức/phong tục nổi bật của người Māori.

Manaakitanga
Manaakitanga là tất cả những điều liên quan đến sự hiếu khách và tử tế - hay có thể coi là sự chào đón khách bằng việc thể hiện lòng mến khách, hào phóng và tôn trọng lẫn nhau của người Māori. Đây là 1 trong những quan niệm rất quan trọng đối với nhiều người dân New Zealand, không chỉ người Māori. Nó còn được ghi nhận bởi Chính Phủ New Zealand như 1 trong 2 giá trị cốt lõi của chiến lược ngành du lịch New Zealand.

Kaitiakitanga
Kaitiakitanga thể hiện sự tôn trọng và sứ mệnh bảo vệ môi trường tự nhiên của người Māori. Trong đó:
- Mana: là 1 sức mạnh thiêng liêng. Mana của rừng được thể hiện bởi vô vàn loài hoa đua nở và đa dạng các loại hoa quả, chim muông.
- Tapu: là sự giới hạn thiêng liêng. Để Mana có thể nuôi dưỡng khu rừng, các giới hạn phải được đặt ra. Tapu là 1 nguyên tắc cơ bản, ví dụ như không được bắt cá vô tội vạ, phải để các khu vực có cá luôn hồi sinh.
- Mauri là động lực của sự sống. Mauri của rừng phải được bảo vệ để Mana có thể chảy xuyên suốt khu rừng.
5 nghi thức nổi bật của người Māori New Zealand
Trước khi vào 1 ngôi làng Māori để trải nghiệm những nghi thức và phong tục của dân tộc này, bạn nên tìm hiểu trước để khỏi bỡ ngỡ và có được trải nghiệm thú vị nhất. Dưới đây là 5 nghi thức điển hình:

1. The Pōwhiri:
Pōwhiri là 1 nghi thức chào đón truyền thống của người Māori, bao gồm có diễn văn, nhảy múa và nghi thức Hongi (xem phía dưới) và chào đón bạn đến với cộng đồng Māori. Nghi thức này thường sẽ bắt đầu ở ngoài marae nhưng Pōwhiri có thể được diễn ra ở bất kỳ đâu mà chủ nhà muốn chào đón khách, ví dụ như sân trường, nơi chào đón các tân sinh viên. Xưa kia, quá trình Pōwhiri phát triển trở thành 1 cách thức để "kiểm tra" xem những người đang tiếp cận họ là bạn hay thù.

2. Thách thức Wero hay Taki:
Wero là 1 thử thách của người Māori, còn được gọi là Taki. Các chiến binh Māori sẽ trình diễn thử thách này trong nghi thức chào đón pōwhiri để kiểm tra mục đích của những người ghé thăm -bằng cách cầm vũ khí và đặt ra thử thách, 1 dấu hiệu, ví dụ như 1 nhánh gậy nhỏ cho vị khách nhặt lên và thể hiện rằng mình đến trong hòa bình. Vì thế, hãy nhớ bạn thể hiện mục đích đến thăm của bạn là hòa bình và tốt đẹp, và chấp nhận lời đề nghị hòa bình nếu thử thách được đưa ra cho bạn.

3. The Haka:
Khi bạn tận mắt chứng kiến 1 haka - 1 màn trình diễn, hãy xác định tư tưởng rằng trải nghiệm mạnh mẽ và tràn đầy năng lượng khi chứng kiến ấy sẽ đọng lại trong tâm trí bạn rất lâu sau đó. Đó là 1 vũ điệu chiến tranh truyền thống của người Māori - Haka trong truyền thống - được trình diễn bởi đàn ông trước khi xung trận và là 1 màn trình diễn thể hiện niềm tự hào, sức mạnh và sự thống nhất của bộ tộc. Tát cổ tay, dập chân, đẩy lưỡi, mở lồi mắt - tất cả đều là 1 phần của phong tục truyền thống đầy mạnh mẽ và thu hút này. Hiện nay những nghi lễ của người Māori vẫn gìn giữ những nét phong tục kia, bao gồm cả tiệc sinh nhật và tiệc cưới. Haka còn được trình diễn ở các buổi biểu diễn văn hóa cho du khách.

4. The Hongi:
Hongi là cách chào đón truyền thống của người Māori và được diễn dịch ra là "sự chia sẻ hơi thở". Đó là 1 cử chỉ vô cùng đẹp đẽ và thân mật giữa 2 người - chạm mũi và trán của người này với người kia. Nếu bạn được mời thực hiện hành động thiêng liêng này, điều đó chứng tỏ bạn không còn là 1 vị khách mà đã trở thành 1 phần của whānau (gia đình).

5. The Hangi:
Nếu bạn may mắn được tham gia Hangi, nghĩa là bạn sẽ được tham gia vào 1 bữa tiệc thực sự với những thành phần như gà, thịt bò, khoai tây, khoai lang và cà rốt. Hangi có nghĩa là lò nướng đất (earth oven) sử dụng phương pháp nấu ăn truyền thống của người Māori - sơ chế nguyên liệu và hun trong lò ngầm dưới đất. Điều cần nhớ là bạn phải chờ đến khi chủ nhà nói lời cảm tạ (blessing).

If students are currently overseas and prevented from travelling to Australia due to the Australian Government border controls and will be studying with us online only from their home country for Semester 2 or Summer Semester, they may be eligible for a UQ COVID-19 Offshore Online Study Tuition Fee Rebate.

Students will need to be a full-fee paying international student undertaking an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree. If they are eligible, the rebate will provide a 12.5% reduction of their tuition fees based on their actual course enrolments in Semester 2 or Summer Semester 2020.
3 Griffith University _Unlimited 20% tuition fee scholarship for T2,T3/2020
_Dành cho online & offline Griffith is offering a 20% scholarship to international students commencing in Trimester 2 and 3 in 2020. The scholarship is available to all international students who enrol in a minimum of 30CP for undergraduate, postgraduate coursework, and Study Abroad programs.
• No scholarship application is required, as the 20% will be automatically deducted from the student’s tuition fee account prior to census date, based on their enrolment.
• The tuition fee deposit required from applicants who accept and offer to commence in Trimester 2 or 3 in 2020 will be reduced to $3,000, as well as visa-length Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This ensures students can apply for their visa and be ready to travel to Australia as soon as possible.
• The balance of fees payable, based on the student’s enrolment, must be paid by census date. Please note: there have been changes made to the academic calendar.

4 The University of Newcastle - Giảm 5% khóa chính

This scholarship is not available for Intensive English as a Second Language (IESL) students. If you test into IESL during Orientation Week, the scholarship will not be awarded to you. Applicants must submit their unofficial transcript in English from the last school attended showing at least one term of grades with a minimum 3.3 GPA. We do not accept test scores (ex. IGSCE, TOEFL). If you are applying as an online student for Fall 2020 no visa is required.
