1. To live (from) hand to mouth- to have just enough money to live on and nothing extra: sống chật vật, tằn tiện.
Ex: He was unemployed at the time and living from hand to mouth.
(Thời điểm đó anh ta đang thất nghiệp và phải sống tằn tiện.)

2. Feel the pinch- to feel the effects of having less money: túng quẫn, túng tiền
Ex: When my father lost his job and we had to live on my mother's earnings, we really started to feel the pinch.

ex: We’ll spend some of it now on a nice holiday and save the rest for a rainy day.

6. Built-up (adj)- A built-up area is one where there are a lot of buildings: nhà cửa chen chúc
Ex: This is a built-up town. (Đây là một thị trấn có nhà cửa chen chúc nhau.)

7. Tree-lined (adj)- A place that has plenty of trees: rợp bóng cây
Ex: He proudly showed me his house, which sits on a quiet, tree-lined street. (Anh ấy hãnh diện cho tôi xem nhà của mình, nó nằm trên 1 con đường yên tĩnh, rợp bóng cây xanh)

8. Bustling /ˈbʌs.lɪŋ/ (adj)- full of people and busy activities: sôi nổi, nhộn nhịp, tấp nập

10. Cosmopolitan /ˌkɒz.məˈpɒl.ɪ.tən/- containing or having experience of people and things from many different parts of the world: (thành phố) quốc tế
Ex: New York is a highly cosmopolitan city. (New York là một thành phố quốc tế)

1. Metropolitan /ˌmet.rəˈpɒl.ɪ.tən/(adj)- ‘relating to a large city: có tính thủ đô, rộng lớn (*(A metropolis is a very large city.)
Ex:
- It ranks as one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the US (nó được xếp hạng là một trong những đô thị phát triển nhanh ở Mỹ)
- Los Angeles is a bustling metropolitan city. (Los Angeles là một thành phố đô thị nhộn nhịp.)

2. Sprawling /ˈsprɔː.lɪŋ/ (adj)- covers a large area, usually in a rather untidy way, with various parts built at different times: ngổn ngang, trải dài ra.
Ex: Today, it’s a sprawling metropolis of over 10 million inhabitants.(Ngày nay, nó là 1 đô thị rộng lớn với hơn 10 triệu dân)
- I loved the vigorous, sprawling city. (Tôi yêu thành phố mạnh mẽ, ngổn ngang này.)

3. Affluent /ˈæf.lu.ənt/- A city – or part of a city – that is smart, with big, expensive houses: giàu có
Ex: They live in one of the most affluent neighborhoods. (Họ sống ở một trong những khu nhà giàu)

4. Run-down (adj)- a poor area of the city: trong tình trạng tồi tệ, đổ nát, xiêu vẹo, ọp ẹp
Ex: She lives in a run-down house (Cô ấy sống ở ngôi nhà tồi tàn)

5. Residential /ˌrez.ɪˈden.ʃəl/ (adj)- A residential area of a city has only private houses, not buildings such as offices or factories: khu dân cư, nhà riêng
Ex: The neighborhood is predominantly residential
