-------------------Phuot Spirit - 24/5 ECBC Discussion----------------------
Add: Ham Hanh, 170 Doi Can street.
Time: 2:30 PM => 4:30 PM

Whenever a group of youngsters with national flag T-shirt passing by or showing some pictures in FB, a kind of respect immediately flows out of us.
What is there behind that trend? Is "Phuot spirit" in Vietnam somewhat similar or different from the "backpacking spirit " in Western countries?
Since when does "Phuot" set foot in our urban dictionary? What kind of achievements has this community obtained? Can we learn something from them?
For better or for worse, "Phuot" is becoming a household word. Let's get together tomorrow to get to know "Phuot spirit" better and maybe share some of your travel experiences.
Looking forward.

Nowadays, social media, especially, Facebook in Vietnam plays an important role in our daily life. The first thing that many of us do in the morning when we wake up is checking our Facebook’s news feed. We post almost everything on Facebook, from our most embarrassing events to the photos of our birthday parties, from our deepest thoughts about life to 3600 selfies (and shoe-fies). Some people can’t live a day (even an hour) without Facebook.
Within a few years, Facebook’s invasion has taken over Yahoo’s territory, or any other medium prior to it. 8x generation must be still remembering how they used Yahoo’s chat rooms instead of Facebook’s groups, how they “buzzed” on Yahoo’s windows instead of sending funny stickers or emojis. Yahoo used to be the apple in our eyes then it fell into oblivion.
However, we also hear people complaining about Facebook, saying it wastes our time by ridiculous information, endangers our privacy and makes us unconnected with our friends in real life. Simultaneously, we witness the other social media rapidly developing, such as Tweeter or China’s Weibo. They are all threatening Facebook’s existence. So, Will Facebook share the same destiny with Yahoo?
Let’s find out at our ECBC’s meeting at Ham Hanh, 170 Doi Can this Sunday!

Hi friends,
The topic of 34th weekly meeting is Hanoi food safety which still attracts people’s attention; moreover, it becomes a serious problem when summer comes. Every summer, there are thousands of food poising cases nationally because of unsafe food. Some individuals convince that the main reason is due to pesticide-related products; however, people seem to forget other potential factors such as food processing, food preservation and so on. How do you deeply understand about food safety generally? Is the food you consume daily safe? Also, what are your solutions to prevent foodborne illness? if you are interested in discussing food hygiene come and join us.
2:30 p.m 12th April in Ham Hanh, 170 Doi Can, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.

Happy women's day to all female members of ECBC
05/03/2015
Hello friends,
Wish you a new year full of happiness, success and health. ECBC happily announce that our 30th meeting will be held on Sunday afternoon 8th of March as usual after a month off because of Tet holiday.
As you know, the event will be held in international women’s day, a day to celebrate not only all women around the world, but also to show your respect, appreciation and love to your mother, sisters and so on therefore our topic is “the role of women in modern life”. Obviously, male and female are made to complement each other at every point and each owns unique qualities to contribute to the enrichment of human life. In fact, women are under a lot of pressure and inequality from families, society, specifically, there are millions of women who have to go through sexual harassment, domestic violence, discrimination, abuse or are denied of pleasures of life because of their gender. After global cross-cultures as well as fights for women’s rights during centuries and development of economy and society, women’s role in modern life has changed significantly, they have right to go to schools and take over social work, many of female get high position over men in office and even start up their own business. However, gender equality seems not to happen in every city, village in the world, there are lots of women suffering inequality, especially, in remote areas where civilization does not reach. Take part in our event to raise your voice, your viewpoint about your rights and discuss how your family and society affected you, additionally, we celebrate international women’s day- March 8th at 2:30 p.m in TheO café No 22, Lane 80 Chua Lang.
