In its continued pursuit of advancing management thinking to international standards, VinUni is honored to welcome Professor Seungjin Whang - a globally recognized expert in operations and supply chain management - to join the MBA program in educating and inspiring future business leaders.

Professor Seungjin Whang is Professor Emeritus of Operations, Information and Technology at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Over more than three decades at Stanford, he has made foundational contributions to the field of modern operations management. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester and previously served as Senior Editor of the prestigious academic journal Information Systems Research. Beyond academia, Professor Whang has also served on the advisory boards of Altos Ventures and Gilead Sciences.

Professor Whang’s scholarly career is distinguished by research with profound global academic impact. His seminal paper on The Bullwhip Effect was recognized as one of the ten most influential articles in the 50-year history of the journal Management Science, while also ranking fourth among the most cited papers ever published by the journal. Another notable work, Optimal Incentive-Compatible Priority Pricing, ranked seventh among the most cited papers in Operations Research during the period 1952–2012. In particular, his 2002 research on e-commerce and supply chains remained the top-ranked paper on SSRN in Innovation and Operations for more than 17 consecutive years.
