After several months of living back at her home in the countryside due to COVID-19, we were able to return Nu back to The Friendship Village where she receives daily care.
I can’t believe it’s been over a decade for this project, thank you everyone who helped at our charity event 10 years ago. Your money is still being put to great use, I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and warm hearts.
Thank you to the Friendship Village and to Nu's Friends as well.
For those of you not familiar with Nu, she is blind, mostly deaf, can’t communicate verbally, and is autistic. Nu is a 3rd generation victim of agent orange passed down from her grandfather who fought in the war.
We are still looking for an autism specialist living in Hanoi who could spend some time with Nu, please PM if you know anyone willing to help. Also looking for a dentist who can come to her , we have money for treatment.
Thank you to our team of Nguyen Thuy and Tuan, who every year make the trip with me and help act as a liaison with the Friendship Village and Nu’s family.

Today we are bringing Nu back to the Friendship Village after Tet Holiday. Her grandparents are quite elderly and it’s so hard for them take care of her so I can’t stress enough how thankful we are that the Friendship Village looks after her throughout the year.

Happy Lunar New Year everyone. We recently brought Nu back to her grandparents house in the countryside for Tet holiday. She looked healthy and giggled a lot. She will return to the Friendship Village after the holiday. Here are some pictures of the trip.
As always if anyone knows anyone who is an Autism specialist that could work with Nu living in Hanoi let us know.

It's that time of year, today picked up Nu from the Friendship Village to bring her home to her grandparents for Tet. She seemed to be in good health and good spirits. Thanks everyone for all your support with her and happy holidays to you and yours.

Nu often likes to have her palms rubbed if she gets to know you well.

Videos by occupational therapy student Allana Pengilley who volunteered working with Nu at the friendship village. Allana noticed that Nu really loves to listen to music so if you go visit here play her some. I'm looking into a way to get her music on a regular basis. Thanks for these Allana. Also, below is Allana's list of things that she noticed Nu enjoys.

- Dancing, singing and listening to Justin Timberlake's "Can't stop the feeling" and "Send me on my way" by Rusted Root.
- Jumping, sitting or standing on the trampoline in the rehab room.
- Being tickled on her arms, around her shoulders and having the palms of her hands tickled or massaged lightly.
- Nu LOVES going for walks around the village and will often hold your hand as you do this. I found playing music whilst we walked and just talking to Nu also brought enjoyment to Nu. Nu will often squeeze your hand when she is excited, happy or content.
- Nu will jump occasionally if you try to initiate with her, an upbeat song will usually help this be achieved.
- Nu also likes to sit on an (medium sized) gym/exercise ball and do some swaying or bouncing, I suggest you assist her by stabilising her at her shoulders, hands or hips as she may slide off.
- Nu enjoyed sitting under the parachute whilst it is raised and lowered above her, she may be hesitant at first but if you sit on the floor with her as the parachute is waved over her she will be more relaxed. (- the parachute is stored in the rehab room).
- Nu also likes walking/weaving through obstacle courses and in particular through hula hoops placed on the floor.
- Nu will also sit in the spinning dome playground toys and rock back and fourth (time this well so she doesn't get dizzy though)
