The resemblance was to prove more accurate than she realised."

The 1975 at Glastonbury review – amid the irony, ego and pints of Guinness, this is a world-class band 29/06/2025

Which punctuation is fitting for the gap in paragraph below?

A. everywhere, not just
B. everywhere - not just
C. everywhere: not just
D. everywhere; not just

"What ensues isn’t quite as complex as their last tour, which featured lead singer Matty Healy eating raw steak, doing push ups, climbing through a television and Prince Andrew’s face appearing on a bank of television screens accompanied by the strains of Mahler’s 5th Symphony. Nevertheless, there are huge video screens ____________ behind the band, but above them and at either side of the stage, and indeed below the actual video screens that Glastonbury traditionally provides. The treadmill that ran across the front of the stage during their 2018 tour – there for Healy to glide around on, something he does with admirable insouciance – makes a reappearance, while, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear, the rear half of a car makes an appearance stage right at one point. Healy sings from within it."

The 1975 at Glastonbury review – amid the irony, ego and pints of Guinness, this is a world-class band Perhaps joking, or perhaps not, Matty Healy pronounces himself ‘the greatest songwriter of my generation’ – and that’s only a slightly ridiculous statement

Will the Humanities Survive Artificial Intelligence? 18/06/2025

Which statement gives the main idea of the paragraph below?

A. The author admonishes us to take care in how we use our new technology so as not to harm others.
B. The author claims that our new technology can be equally adept at helping us to realize ourselves as well as creating financial benefit.
C. The author warns us that our new technology can be used to turn human existence into profit.
D. The author incites us to rise up against today's technological trends before we all become mindless money machines.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"But we’ll need vigilance, and a fighting courage, too, as we again take up this unending experience of coming into ourselves as free beings responsible for world-making. Because it is, of course, possible to turn the crank that instrumentalizes people, to brutalize them, to squeeze their humanity into a sickly green trickle called money and leave only a ruinous residue. The new machines are already pretty good at that. The algorithms that drive these systems are the same algorithms that drive the attention economy, remember? They will only get better."

Will the Humanities Survive Artificial Intelligence? Maybe not as we’ve known them. But, in the ruins of the old curriculum, something vital is stirring.

Opinion | Only Nonviolence Will Beat Trump 18/06/2025

Choose the word that best fits in the blank in the paragraph below.

A. domination B. uprising C. repression D. subduction

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Cross-national research by Maria Stephan and Erica Chenoweth finds that when states crack down violently on nonviolent protest, it often backfires. Rather than quell dissent, __________ can mobilize opposition and erode the government’s legitimacy. Other scholarship suggests that when state officials use excessive force against peaceful protesters — such as when the police commissioner Bull Connor in 1963 blasted civil rights activists with fire hoses in Birmingham, Ala. — the images generated can be particularly effective for movements."
