The provided diagram illustrates the industrial process of producing cherry jam.
Overall, there are nine distinct stages being involved, beginning with the harvesting of the cherries and ending with the final packaging of the jam jars.a
First, a large sheet is laid at the base of the tree, which is then shaken by a mechanical arm, causing the fruit to fall. Subsequently, the collected cherries are transported by lorry to a processing facility. Upon arrival, the cherries undergo a cleaning phase where leaves and stems are eliminated. At this point, it is thoroughly washed over followed by the removal of the stone using a metal spike.
The next phase involves cooking the fruit. The pitted cherries are placed in a large vat where sugar, lemon juice, and pectin are incorporated before the mixture is heated. Following this, a quality control check is performed. Once approved, the jam is dispensed into jars, which are then sealed with lids. In the final stage, labels are affixed to the jars, rendering the cherry jam ready for distribution and sale.
