Artist retreats & workshops in the Virgin Islands. Stunning locations, unforgettable experiences. I’ve always lived with the sea as my backdrop. Croix in the U.S.
Growing up on a small island in southwest Florida, I spent my childhood swimming, sailing, and surfing—learning to read the tides and skies as naturally as others learned to read books. That early connection to island life, the rhythms of the water and the vibrant colors of the tropics, shaped the way I see the world and inspired the path I’ve followed ever since. For decades, I’ve had the privile
ge of organizing and leading artist workshops for watercolor societies, artist organizations, art centers, etc. Over the years, I’ve taken groups of artists to France, Spain, Italy, and beyond, designing immersive workshop trips that combined cultural exploration with deep creative practice. Each journey reaffirmed what I believe most strongly: that traveling, painting, and sharing experiences with other artists can be transformative—not just for our work, but for our lives. Now, living on the island of St. Virgin Islands, I have the chance to bring that vision full circle. Here, surrounded by the beauty of the Caribbean and the warmth of its people, I can host workshops and retreats that give artists the same kind of inspiration and freedom that has fueled my own journey. These retreats are more than just classes. They are invitations—to slow down, to see with fresh eyes, to connect with others who share the same passion for art and discovery. My goal is to create spaces where artists can not only grow in their skills but also leave with unforgettable experiences, friendships, and a renewed sense of possibility. In many ways, this is me sharing the best of what I love most: art, community, and the magic of island living. And I can’t wait to welcome you to St. Croix, to share the places, colors, and moments that continue to inspire me every single day. https://www.facebook.com/AnnieStrack

It will be at least another month and a half before our shipment arrives from the mainland, so in the meantime, here's some photos of some of the bathrooms at Caribbean Art Escapes. These are the only rooms that are ready for guests at the moment! 😂

I'm looking at installing a fiberglass pool, around 7,000 to 10,000 gallons, 5' to 6' deep, with wide steps (seating areas) -- and with no infinity edge, no spa, and no big "beach" ledge. I like the simple lines of the Pompano, Hawaiian, Vegas, Waikiki 2, and Wylela models. What do you think? Tell me your thoughts and advice in the comments.
YAY! We finally have a confirmed date from our movers and shippers! We'll be in our new home at Caribbean Art Escapes in three weeks!

We're getting close! We received all the estimates back and we will contract with movers and shippers on Monday, and then we should get the dates finalized within the next two weeks. We should be back on the island and in our new home by the end of May!

I'm thinking about bringing in an instructor to teach a workshop in underwater photography for beginners. Small class limited to 6 people. Nothing too scary -- shallow water locations, mask and snorkel provided. Students would need to bring their own cameras but inexpensive underwater cameras designed for amateurs would be allowed. Is anyone interested?

We're getting down to the wire! I've contacted moving and shipping companies to get estimates to ship our household goods and cars to the Virgin Islands, and Brian is getting estimates from contractors to replace floor coverings and paint our old house before we list it for sale. Today I ordered new beds for the guest rooms in the new house, and I have an appointment on Saturday to take the last loads to furniture from our old house to the consignment store. Our goal date for moving is mid-May. Caribbean Art Escapes
