Registration for the fall scramble is open! Sign up by the 24th and enter for a chance to win a $900 value complete mahjong set along with some added goodies! But don't worry, you have over a month to still sign up if you aren't ready yet.

We had over 35 players in the summer scramble just in Zachary with over 260 players in the greater Baton Rouge area. You can play as little or as much as you want! Message me for more details! The best part...all levels of players welcome!

Taco ’Bout Mahj 103!

After three sessions with some of these ladies, I feel like we’re best friends! 😂💕 Fly, little birdbams—you are officially ready for Open Play!

Today’s 103 was a fun mixed group. Four of these ladies have been playing for a while, so we took a deeper dive into picking hands, branching out and trying new hands, pivoting when the tiles tell us to, and defensive play.

The newer players worked on building confidence, seeing the card differently, and learning to make those decisions a little faster.

That’s what I love about 103—there’s always another layer of Mahjong to learn, no matter how many games you’ve played!

🎂 MAGNOLIA MAHJ TURNS ONE! 🎂

One year ago, Magnolia Mahj started with a love for the game and a desire to teach a few people how to play.

365 days later…

🀄️ 245 people taught to play Mahjong and countless new friendships made

🀄️ So many tables filled with laughter and a community created that I never could have imagined

🀄️ And approximately 8 million times explaining that NO, you cannot ever use a joker in a pair, even if it's for Mahjong. 😂

But my favorite number of all?

The number of people who came to learn Mahjong and left with new friends.

That’s what this has become for me. It was never just about teaching a game. It’s about gathering around a table, putting our phones down, laughing, competing, learning, and connecting with people we may have never met otherwise.

Watching friendships form, groups start playing on their own, families learn together, and new people walk into an event not knowing anyone and leave feeling like part of the group has been the absolute BEST part of this first year.

To every one of the 245 people who trusted me to teach you how to say it AND how to play it 😉, everyone who has come back for 102, 103, open play, mock tournaments and events, and everyone who has told a friend, brought a friend, or simply cheered Magnolia Mahj on…
