What do you do in fashion class during homecoming week?

Homecoming, season + fashion design = the perfect classroom combination!

I created this homecoming overall design challenge to give students a fun, creative way to practice the fashion design process while tapping into all the excitement of homecoming week.

Students get to plan and design their own spirit, overalls, combining school colors, traditions graphics accessories, and their own personal style into one complete look.

It’s a great way to bring school spirit into fashion, FCS, or apparel classes while still keeping students focused on design and creativity.

Turn fashion into investigation!
With fashion through time, students explore fashion from the Victorian era to today while uncovering WHY trends changed along the way.

Students investigate:
Fashion, history, and trends
Textiles and technology.
Social, cultural and political influences.
Economic, and consumer influences
Historical fashion influencers.
How past trends still influence fashion today

Then they bring their research together on their own fashion evidence board, and turn your classroom into a visual timeline of fashion history!

Tiny designers in the making 🐛✨
Our classroom silkworms are hard at work enjoying their daily mulberry meal—and quietly producing one of the most important fibers in fashion history. From cocoon to couture, this is where fashion truly begins!
My students are getting a firsthand look at the origins of silk and the role natural fibers play in the fashion industry. It’s messy, fascinating, and honestly… kind of adorable.
