SCSBA President Tim Rhodes and SCSBA Region 13 Director Jessica Cody present the award at last night's board of trustees meeting. The award is presented to community residents, organizations or businesses/industries whose support and contributions have significantly benefited public schools.

🚌🚨 York Police Department Public Safety Notice 🚨🚌

🚌🚌 School Bus Safety Week 2025 🚌🚌

The safety of our children is non‑negotiable. Every day, school buses in our community carry our most precious passengers. Yet, we continue to see motorists illegally passing stopped school buses and creating dangerous situations at bus stop locations.

Effective immediately, York Police officers will be increasing enforcement in school zones and along bus routes. Drivers who choose to ignore the law and put children at risk will be stopped and cited.

📌 South Carolina Law:
Under South Carolina Code § 56‑5‑2780, unlawfully passing a stopped school bus is a criminal offense. A first violation carries a minimum fine of $500 or up to 30 days in jail. Repeat offenders are subject to immediate arrest and face even harsher penalties.

⚠️ Remember:
-When a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, all traffic must stop—unless you are on the opposite side of a divided highway.
-Children may be crossing the roadway in front of or behind the bus.

We urge every driver: slow down, pay attention, and stop when the bus stops. Protecting our children is a shared responsibility.
