Sacred Heart High School, Yonkers - Alumni

✨ Thank you to our Sacred Heart community for joining us last Thursday as we celebrated the Soft Reopening of our gymnasium!

Guests took a walk down memory lane in the high school breezeway, exploring a photo display that showcased both the remarkable transformation of the gym and more than 60 years of games, pep rallies, and special moments that have united our community.

The evening featured a blessing of the renewed space by Father Bob, the unveiling of our new bleachers, and inspiring reflections from student speakers Dayron ’27 and Kathleen ’28.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our alumni, donors, families, and community partners, we are nearing completion of Phase 1 of our Gym Modernization Campaign. Major upgrades—including the gym floor, bleachers, skylight, and partition—are now complete.
To fully finish Phase 1, we are raising funds for essential athletic equipment that will support our 24 sports teams during the 2026–2027 school year, including:

🏀 A new scoring table
🪑 Sideline chairs
🏐 A volleyball net system
⚾ A pitching machine

Completing this phase will restore full functionality and accessibility to the gymnasium, bringing our students back to their home court for athletics, physical education, and community-building activities.

We were fortunate to enjoy a beautiful day on the course, but even more fortunate to witness our incredible Sacred Heart community come together in support of our school. With more than 125 golfers, 20 additional dinner guests, 14 student volunteers, and members of our faculty and administrative teams in attendance, it was a wonderful celebration of Sacred Heart pride.

🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️ The festivities continued after a great day on the green as we heard inspiring remarks from student speakers Sadie ’29 and Aithor ’27. We were also proud to honor Timothy Flynn ’83 with the Dedicated Alumni Award in recognition of his leadership and commitment to advancing Sacred Heart’s four-phase Gym Modernization Campaign and strengthening the future of our athletic facilities.

For the past eight years, Tim has served as a dedicated member of Sacred Heart’s Board of Advisors. Following the severe flooding that impacted our gym floors in November 2025, Tim immediately stepped forward to lend his extensive construction expertise. His leadership has since become instrumental in advancing Sacred Heart’s four-phase gym modernization campaign and strengthening the future of our athletics facilities.

Sacred Heart pride was on full display at our 7th Annual Athletic Hall of Fame 💚

We celebrated 20 incredible cheerleaders and honored this year’s inductees: Tom Nevin ’60, Trudy-Ann Dawkins ’03, Thomas Hanney ’80, and Karen Moynihan Doran ’86.

During the evening, we launched a $25,000 matching gift challenge - inspired by a generous donor outside our alumni community, deeply moved by the strength of our students and the spirit of Sacred Heart.

As we count down the final days leading up to the Athletic Hall of Fame on the 25th, we’re proud to spotlight the final era of Sacred Heart Cheerleaders - from 2010 to today. Most recently, this group helped energize the 2025 Boys Varsity Basketball team on their run to a State Championship.

Today, Sacred Heart is working diligently to bring its cheerleaders and student-athletes back to their home court following the flooding in November. As we look ahead to modernizing our gym while honoring its traditions, we return to a timeless ideal: spirit that isn’t just seen, but felt.

Our cheerleaders of the past did more than lead chants - they built a culture. Now, more than ever, we’re committed to carrying that spirit forward - louder, prouder, and stronger than ever.
