Delighted, honored and humbled to be chosen for this leadership award.
Congratulations to Allison Chisolm, Founder and Principal of Choice Words/Chisolm & Co., as the recipient of the Chamber’s 2022 Business Forward Females Leadership award. The award recognizes an exceptional woman in business whose leadership inspires other females to achieve their full potential. Allison began her communications career in corporate public relations in New York and London, and in university news departments, including UMass Medical Center and Harvard. She has written many news and magazine articles on business, healthcare and education topics. She is a biographer of two books published on 19th and 20th century subjects who shook up the status quo of their worlds – steel manufacturing and engineering education. One of her proudest achievements was her first biography of 19th century Worcester Industrialist Charles Hill Morgan which took her 8 years to write. Her community contributions include serving as Co-President of the United Methodist Church’s Women’s Unit since 2014 with the mission of helping women, children, and youth locally and globally. She is a board member of the Worcester Education Collaborative with the focus of helping make education valuable for every student, and an Executive Committee member and Trustee of Hartford International University for Religion and Peace. She has been an active member of the Corridor 9/495 Regional Chamber for 17 years and dedicated volunteer in many roles. She serves on the Chamber’s School/Business Partnership Committee and Programs Committee. She is a networking facilitator at Chamber and BFF events, volunteers her time to help at our annual golf tournament, and donates a prize for the raffle table in support of raising scholarships for our graduating high school seniors. Allison has been honored with awards from professional organizations, received the Thomas Jefferson Award by Worcester Public Schools, and received a key to the city of Worcester for her service as co-president of Friends of Worcester Public Library.

Five years ago this month, my biography of "The Presiding Genius of the Place," as Bill Grogan's classmates crowned him, went to the printer! Watch this space for those words of wisdom he would offer to anyone paying attention, but especially undergraduates at WPI.

Let's hope so!

My six minutes of fame! If you can access Charter TV (it seems to serve the other parts of the country that don't have Comcast or TImeWarner cable) -- look on demand for the "Chamber Exchange" show -- the current episode has a segment on the Business Owners' Dialogue group I belong to. Fellow BOD member Maureen Raillo of WLimo (wlimo.com) and I have some airtime! Channel 193 in Worcester, 7:30 p.m. tonight and next Sunday I believe.
