Scientists find world’s oldest fossil mushroom 12/13/2020

I would like you to consider an implication of this fossil, in that it is a statement of the Fungi Kingdom's stake and activity in the survivability of our environment. We are learning more and more about how our human activities affect that and how we are subtly (and quite obviously) affected by fungus. And also plants in cycles of life.

Scientists find world’s oldest fossil mushroom Roughly 115 million years ago, when the ancient supercontinent Gondwana was breaking apart, a mushroom fell into a river and began an improbable journey. Its ultimate fate as a mineralized fossil preserved in limestone in northeast Brazil makes it a scientific wonder, scientists report in the journa...

Hi everybody! I need your input! I want to add at least two different varieties of Oysters to my culture order, I'm definitely getting Black Pearl ( first image) but I can't choose a 2nd 😵 what do you want? Help me decide :

When cooked, oyster mushrooms have a smooth oyster-like texture and a some say a slight hint of seafood flavor.
It’s not uncommon for people to also describe oyster mushrooms as having a subtle anise flavor.

1. :
mushrooms have a slightly sweet and woodsy taste, but they’re more mild and tender than a shiitake mushroom.
2.
As you’d expect, golden oysters are a bright yellow color. They have a more complex and aromatic flavor than the standard pearl oyster.
3.
The king trumpet, eryngii or king oyster mushroom is the largest of the oyster mushroom genus and, unlike other oyster mushrooms, their stalks aren’t tough and woody to eat. Instead, they're hailed for their meaty texture and umami flavour.
The texture is sometimes likened to abalone or scallops, which makes them an interesting option for vegetarians and are often billed as ‘mushroom steaks’ or ‘vegan scallops’.
4
This oyster is very similar in appearance to the pearl oyster, except its caps are usually smaller and paler in color, and it often grows a longer stem.
mushrooms have a slightly sweet and woodsy taste, but they’re more mild and tender than a shiitake mushroom.

Feel free to speak up!

Not a mushroom: WAKE UP MASSACHUSETTS! The compressor station you probably don't know about just got approved despite opposition from Ed markey and other Massachusetts officials. Weymouth is Fast On its way to becoming our next SUPERFUND site. If you live near Weymouth have have fun with all the cancer. Seriously, y'all are going to want to fight this.
He's going to kill you all for a profit.
Enbridge plans to blowdown (or release)--in a short amount of time--475,000 standard cubic feet of fracked methane. This will be loud (like a jet engine), smelly, and dangerous. You deserve to know when this is happening so that you can avoid the area or leave your home if you feel this will make you feel unsafe or sick.

If you actually want to do something about it go here:

I heard we're supposed to get a snow storm soon so I went back for those oyster mushrooms!
Again I only took a very small portion of the mature population. say you should never take more than a third of the population, as a rule of thumb I always take a little less than the guideline limit.
Since oyster mushrooms have been shown to lower cholesterol and promote heart health I am giving these ones to my grandmother to cook for her and my grandfather but I have ordered blue and pink oyster mushrooms so far in my most recent culture order.
My grandfather had his first heart attack due to diet and stress at an astounding 24 years old and a second smaller scare in his late 50s so, my grandmother has accidentally gotten into food science, looking for healthier alternatives that he will actually eat *shrug*
Oyster mushrooms contain a number of substances thought to influence health. These substances include dietary fiber, beta-glucan, and several other polysaccharides—a class of carbohydrates found to affect immune function.2
Scientific studies on the health benefits of oyster mushrooms are emerging. Research has examined the potential benefits of this fungus.

you can learn more about oyster mushrooms and all different kinds of mushrooms on my website which will actually be open and launched this week 🤦🤦🤦

Building a website has been the most tediously painful part this entire experience of opening a business but . . Uh .. now I know how to build a website 🎉

Is anyone interested in Chicken of the Woods Mushrooms ? I'm thinking about picking up some cultures.. cuz they're one of my favorite to eat!
Just let me know ❤️🍄
This mushroom has a lemony, meaty taste. Some think it tastes like its chicken namesake; others describe the flavor as being more like crab or lobster. Whatever your opinion, the chicken fungus makes a great substitute for meat in almost any dish.

It's important to note that this is one of those mushrooms that sometimes causes gastric distress in certain people. If you want to avoid a possible stomach misadventure, only try a little bit your first time to see what it does to you. Also always avoid chicken of the woods growing on conifers, eucalyptus, or cedar trees, as these are reported to contain toxins that can make people sick.

NOTE FOR THOSE WHO ARE NEW TO THIS MUSHROOM: Laetiporus sulphureus is generally rated as a good edible fungus (unless growing on wood such as Yew, which itself contains dangerous toxins that could be taken up by the fungus); however, it is best picked when young and moist.

A popular way of cooking this fungus is to cut it into slices, brush them with oil, and then fry them in breadcrumbs; serve with lemon juice. The taste is quite like chicken; however, although most people find this a good edible species a small minority find that it causes feelings of nausea. If frozen (uncooked), this fungus retains most of its flavour, and so it is a good species for storing in preparation for the winter months.
