This month, we hosted a celebration at Tweed for National Immigrant Heritage Month!
At NYC Public Schools, we honor the strength, resilience, and contributions of our immigrant students, families, and communities.
We are committed to being a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place for every student—regardless of where they were born or the language they speak.
Our schools are not only places of learning—they are spaces of belonging, dignity, and opportunity.
Through Project Open Arms, the Office of Multilingual Learners, and across NYCPS, we are committed to ensuring our schools are physically and emotionally safe for our students.
We want to thank everyone in our system who supports immigrant students and their families!
Thank you to the NYCPS Project Open Arms team for putting together this event.
Thank you to the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs for being partners in the work.
Thank you to for funding and expanding the school-based legal immigration support systems for students and families.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in supporting our immigrant students and their families, including advocates, elected officials, agency partners, and more.
To our immigrant families, please know: we value you and everything you bring to our communities.
