HHA vs HHHA: What’s the difference?

HHA means Home Health Aide, while HHHA means Homemaker-Home Health Aide.

They are used interchangeably in many cases. Some states use the term HHA, while New Jersey uses Homemaker-Home Health Aide (HHHA).

And if you’re wondering about the training, our HHHA program is HYBRID, which means most of the training is online, with only 2 days of in-person training.

Simple as that.

And it’s also a healthcare job that’s in demand across the U.S.

Sometimes, our first teachers are our moms, dads, aunts, grandparents, and the people who guide us along the way.

“My husband hit me when we had heated arguments. Please don’t tell anyone.”

Just imagine you're the CNA standing in front of that resident. What would you do?

You might say, “Nah, that’s not going to happen to me. That’s rare.”

But more than 1 in 3 women in the U.S. have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime....that's 43.5 million women, according to the CDC’s 2023/2024 NISVS data.

So yes, it can happen. And you may be the CNA who hears it.

If a resident tells you someone hurt them, don’t promise to keep it a secret.

Listen. Stay calm. Show empathy. Report the concern to the nurse or supervisor according to your workplace procedures.

This is why we’re so hands-on with our students and make sure they’re exposed to real-life situations based on real healthcare experience.

Simply because real-life situations don’t always come with a textbook answer.

Always remember, being a CNA is more than changing beds, helping with meals, and providing personal care.
