🔌 ⚡ Electric vehicles (EVs) are getting safer battery packs and housings to prevent dangerous fires, stop damage from crashes, and meet strict new rules.

🔋 One change is better thermo protection. Heat shields and thermo-electrical barriers are specialized protective linings designed to block radiant heat and prevent electrical conduction, commonly used in automotive applications and EV lithium-ion battery safety.

An EV cast (gigacasting) is a single large aluminum die-cast structure — typically the rear underbody, front underbody, or both — that replaces 70–170+ individually stamped, welded, and glued steel parts. The goals: lower manufacturing cost (est. 20–40% body-structure savings), reduced weight (10–20% lighter than steel assemblies), shorter production time, and improved structural rigidity for battery-pack integration. The trade-off for owners: potentially higher collision-repair complexity and insurance costs.

Went 100% battery a year ago.  I’ve used enough battery power tools in the water that I’m comfortable with the operation of them.
