🚗💨 The Blazer EV’s body structure blends high‑strength steels, a structurally integrated battery tray, and advanced load‑management pathways to deliver serious crash performance and stiffness. GM’s BEV3 architecture uses a mix of AHSS, Gen3 steels, and reinforced rails to control front, rear, and side impacts while keeping the battery protected and the cabin stable.

Its battery enclosure and cradle system act as part of the load path, transferring crash energy through ski rails, shear plates, and reinforced attachment points. The result is a crossover EV engineered for torsional stiffness, reduced intrusion, and optimized safety performance, earning MotorTrend’s SUV of the Year by design.

🚘 Something different. Automakers are looking at “Campfire” seating in vehicles. The GV90 Neolun’s seating configuration centers on a VIP four‑seat lounge layout with swiveling front seats, reclining second‑row thrones, and heated real‑wood floors, all showcased through its B‑pillar‑less Neolun Arch Gate coach doors

Bigger spreaders offer a wider opening distance and higher maximum force, while smaller spreaders are lighter and easier to maneuver in tight spaces.

🚒 Think you know what you’re cutting on a Tesla Model Y? Take a closer look at the body structure. ⚠️

This Tesla Model Y body structure gives firefighters and rescue technicians a closer look at the components they may encounter during EV extrication—including structural members, Ultra high-strength materials, and reinforcement areas.🔥🚗

👀 Look closely at the structure in this image. What stands out as something Telsa did different?

Yesterday I posted a picture of a hem fl**ge without and adhesives and sealants. Today’s covers the adhesives.

Hem fl**ge adhesives and sealants bond and seal the folded metal edges of automotive closure panels like car doors, hoods, and tailgates. They replace or back up welds, increase structural rigidity, prevent anti-flutter, and block rust.

Why do we skin doors during extrications?

🏭 Hemming in automotive manufacturing is a cold process that joins an inner and outer panel by folding the outer panel’s fl**ges over the inner panel, permanently clamping it in place. This method is used for doors, hoods, and decklids and can be performed with a traditional press or a robotically controlled roller.

A hem fl**ge can be built two different ways: mechanical hem only or hem with structural adhesive.

Below is a mechanical. ⬇️

The crushable zones improve the efficiency of collision energy absorption by utilizing a large bumper reinforcement to disperse impact and a trident structure to firmly support the straightened front-side members.

🔴 Whiplash is the most common rear‑end collision injury — over 800,000 cases a year. IIHS says neck sprains/strains cost drivers $8.8B annually. Proper head‑restraint positioning can prevent severe neck damage.

🧑‍🚒 Firefighters should always check the headrest if the occupant is still seated in the vehicle to assess its placement.

💥 Most airbags protect occupants inside the vehicle, but in some global markets, pedestrians and cyclists are considered as well. Many pedestrians are injured when they’re thrown onto a hood, and it collapses and they hit the hard engine components under it. Volvo’s pedestrian system, introduced in 2012, includes pyrotechnical mechanisms that pull pins to release the hood hinges. Simultaneously, an airbag deploys at the rear of the hood, raising it 10 centimetres (four inches) and keeping it there. That creates enough space between the hood and engine to lessen the chance of serious injury. 🚒
