We are proud to be home to our newest degree.

UVA Wise will expand its graduate offerings this fall with the launch of the Master of Science in Technology Management and Data Analytics, a fully online, interdisciplinary master's degree designed to prepare graduates to lead in today's technology-driven, data-rich economy.

The new 30-credit-hour, non-thesis graduate program combines advanced study in technology management, finance and financial technology, data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), business strategy and responsible technology governance.

With flexible full-time and part-time enrollment options and both fall and spring start dates, the program is designed to meet the needs of students and working professionals while preparing graduates for leadership roles across industries.

UVA Wise is launching a new Finance major beginning Fall 2026. The program combines business, financial management and analytics with experiential learning opportunities to help students turn classroom knowledge into real-world financial decision-making.

Students will explore areas including investments, corporate finance, global markets, financial planning, blockchain and artificial intelligence.

We would like to extend our congratulations to Dr. Zhou !

Thanks to the generosity of Richard B. Gilliam Sr. and the Richard and Leslie Gilliam Foundation, UVA Wise is strengthening its investment in faculty excellence while celebrating the achievements of its educators.

The College has established the Dana G. Kilgore Endowed Professorship in Accounting and named alumna and faculty member Ning Zhou as its inaugural holder. UVA Wise is also recognizing four faculty members whose promotions reflect their continued excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.

Congratulations to Ning Zhou, Teresa L. Brown, Troy E. Makal, Ricky D. Mullins and Cody T. Sanders on these well-deserved achievements!

The Dana G. Kilgore Endowed Professorship in Accounting is a meaningful investment in teaching, mentorship, and student success. I am deeply grateful to Richard B. Gilliam Sr. and the Richard and Leslie Gilliam Foundation for their generosity and continued commitment to UVA Wise.

It is especially fitting that this professorship honors Dana G. Kilgore, whose impact on students and alumni continues to be felt across our College.

This is a great day for accounting, business education, and the future of our students at UVA Wise.

UVA Wise is pleased to announce a new professorship to support service to students. Funded by Richard B. Gilliam Sr. and the Richard and Leslie Gilliam Foundation, and named in honor of emeritus faculty member Dana G. Kilgore, the goal of the professorship is to underscore the significant teaching and mentorship that faculty provide to students at the College.

“Attracting high-end talent begins with honoring those who have made immense positive impacts on students, now alumni, as Professor Dana Kilgore regularly accomplished,” says Richard Gilliam, who is a 1974 graduate of UVA Wise who has been a steadfast supporter of academic and athletic scholarships as well as the Winston Ely Health & Wellness Center. Gilliam also established the Van W. Daniel III Endowed Professorship in Chemistry. He and the Gilliam family have supported the Gilliam Center for the Arts and made the Betty J. Gilliam Sculpture Garden on campus possible.

Established with a gift of $1.5 million, the Dana G. Kilgore Endowed Professorship in Accounting will help attract and/or retain a scholar in the field of accounting.

Our Department of Business and Economics at UVA Wise has received a VCEDA grant to support workforce development pilot programs in Hospitality & Tourism Management and Culinary, Restaurant & Event Management.

These programs will expand hands-on, work-based learning for our students while helping regional employers build talent pipelines across Southwest Virginia.

Special thanks to VCEDA Executive Director/General Counsel Jonathan Belcher, UVA Wise Chancellor Donna Henry, Vice Chancellor Shannon Blevins, Associate Vice Chancellor Randall Rose, and all of our regional employer partners for supporting this important work.
