Full Sail’s Mix Palace was recently upgraded with 10 new Dolby Atmos post-production studios in a collaboration with Custom House at Guitar Center.

Each room features a 7.1.4 Genelec monitoring system, with 8340A Smart Active Monitors serving as the L-C-R channels, 8330A Smart Active Monitors deployed for the surround and overhead positions, and dual 7360A Smart Active Subwoofers.

Students can connect their MacBook computers via USB-C through an Apogee Symphony interface and work directly with the internal Dolby Atmos Renderer.

As they advance, they can move to Full Sail’s house systems and external Dolby rendering workflows, with DADman control software providing routing to the monitoring system. This allows the rooms to support everything from a student’s first introduction to immersive audio through advanced music and post-production projects.

Looking for some entertainment this Halloween season? These are just a handful of the recent spine-tingling projects that Full Sail graduates have contributed to if you need some inspiration.

Aaron B. Koontz (Film ’02) knows how to keep audiences on edge. He serves as Co-Creator, Showrunner, Executive Producer, and Lead Writer of Revival, Peacock’s supernatural drama, and Producer on Shelby Oaks which brought Aaron’s distinctive horror voice to the big screen.

As the director of the number one films Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV, and cult favorites like Repo! The Genetic Opera, Darren Lynn Bousman (Film ’00) made a name for himself in horror. His latest directorial effort, Twisted, explores what happens when two con artists choose the wrong mark.

Steven C. Miller (Film ’04) directed Werewolves, an action-horror movie that uses practical special effects to show off the frightening creatures. No stranger to the horror genre, some of Steven's past films include The Aggression Scale, Under the Bed, and Margaux.

Full Sail grad Will Pisciotta (Film ’16) – who is a SXSW, Sundance, and Cannes ACID alum – co-wrote, co-directed, and co-produced The Yeti, a feature-length horror film set in the 1940s about a search party that faces the Yeti in the Alaskan wilderness

Nina Lopez-Corrado (Film ’07) recently earned the chance to direct an episode of HBO’s Emmy-winning hit, The Last of Us, adding to her list of credits on other frightful series Supernatural and the TV adaptation of The Purge.

Judah Getz (Recording Arts ’06) recently won a Primetime Emmy for his work as ADR Mixer on supernatural comedy horror series Widow’s Bay. He has also contributed to a variety of other hair-raisers like Stranger Things, Sinners, What We Do in the Shadows, Alien: Romulus, and The Substance.

Jerry Lafuente, a graduate of Full Sail University’s Recording Arts and Entertainment Business programs and a Sound Editor at Formosa Group, recently won a 2026 Emmy Award for his work as a Sound Effects Editor on Netflix’s Beef. For Jerry, the win was a surreal triumph that spoke to his hard work.

“When they opened that envelope [at the Emmys] and they said that our team won, I was like, ‘What in the world? Did I just hear that?’” he says. “I went onstage and I held onto that Emmy… I was on cloud nine. The whole experience just brought me back to my whole career journey. This is something that I dreamt about, something that I wanted to achieve one day, and here I was achieving it.”
